Very serious question about Welsh Rugby and the 4 to 3 regions … everything I have read (and I have read a lot on it) talks about accounts and the savings to be made but nothing published by the WRU mentions the costs of cutting a region, the loss of commercial revenue and the possible penalties

As someone who understands UK legislation with regards to anti money laundering - if there is a failure to implement procedures to prevent the laundering of funds, an offence has been committed. Doesn’t matter if money was laundered or not; doesn’t matter that no one was hurt … still an offence.

A simple regulatory step that no party may receive or retain a donation from any person convicted of an offence of dishonesty would seem the appropriate reaction. “Political parties can’t be laundries for dirty money” is not a principle to which I would see the Courts objecting.
