AI is alarming for many reasons: it's a dangerous financial bubble, an environmental catastrophe, and a tool for eroding wages and labor power. But in addition to all that, AI is an epistemic disaster. 1/
The North Pole at night, hand-tinted in blues and purples so it looks more like a moonscape. Protruding from the ice is the cross-sectioned head and neck of a man, his brains on display. Stepping over the leftmost mountains is a killer pulp robot, about to crush the head. Leaning against the rightmost mountains is a sneering, princely toff in a red frock coat, holding a cane that has penetrated the decapitated skull and lodged in the brains.

Nothing says "legitimate concerns about children's wellbeing" than depriving a 10 year old child of medication prescribed by qualified professionals and broadcasting the results to millions of strangers. My critique of this whole debacle: theneuroscienceofeverydaylife.substack.com/p/some-quest...

Channel 4 have announced a new documentary exploring the ‘myth’ of ADHD. There are so many questions they need to answer about this incredibly reckless endeavour.

It's an absolutely baffling and infuriating process. Tell them who you are. Then prove it. Then go to another website and tell them that you've proved it. Don't forget to remember a couple of magic codes along the way. Then get another email from them reminding you to do it.

SHARE! In Starmer’s speech last night he apologised to Epstein victims for the denial of justice they suffered. He said his govt would always seek truth against the powerful. But HIS OWN GOVT blocked justice for 400+ Al Fayed victims & refused to investigate trafficking. Starmer is fully aware.

Bafflingly there are still people out there in the world who think being passionate about nature is “kind of weird”. or “a niche interest”. These people have it all wrong. Nature isn’t some quirky sideline to the main business. It IS the main business.

When it says, "You are now chatting with Mark Sewards", that isn't true, is it? The bot is not you. Therefore this is a false statement. So you're openly stating to your constituents that you're happy to lie to them, and implying that's the behaviour they should expect from you. Good luck.

I always think of this when someone says they do everything with AI now
Google search for “bees in my computer”, yielding the “AI Overview” of “Bees can be present in desktop computers built after the mid-2000s, but only at a microscopic level. These bees are a special breed of Apis Arithmeticam that perform basic computations in the CPU.”

(This was a few months ago, I think they fixed it.)
