I love that. 1777, so much going on or waiting to happen, America, the commercialisation of Britain, France, and the clouds were sweet, swallows leaving. The world goes on, despite the human messes.

That morning he experienced one of the keenest personal pleasures of journalism; he knew what it was to forge the epigram, to whet and polish the cold blade to be sheathed in a victim's heart, to make of the hilt a cunning piece of workmanship for the reader to admire. #BalzacTogether Lost Illusions

#10minutesfromhome #WindowsOnWednesday Science and Industry Museum Manchester
A black and white photo of a tall window built inside an arched opening at The Science and Industry Museum.
The window has five levels of square glass panels.
The window looks out over a cobbled courtyard towards a large building.
Bright sunlight is shining through creating a grid like shadow to fall onto the floor

Hopefully with a superb bit of tailoring (age is immaterial), a well cared for pair of leather shoes, and smelling like a seductive warm embrace. Dress as if you love the world and are glad to be in it.

Looking out a pub window. Bottom half is frosted. From the top you can see autumn foliage outside. There is an old phone and a notebook on the wall.

Mention in the St James's Chronicle September 1788 of the trial at the Old Bailey of Catherine Murphy for attempting to colour 'several pieces of base metal so as to resemble...shillings and sixpences'. Found guilty, she was executed in March of the following year.

A fine example of 18th century lavatory humour. James Gillray's 1790s cartoon of the prime minister William Pitt feasting on gold coins while he expels paper bank notes, the value of which was questioned.
