. . . a brief examination convinced me that the contents were less taking than the title: “Rasselas” looked dull to my trifling taste; I saw nothing about fairies, nothing about genii; no bright variety seemed spread over the closely-printed pages. #Brontëfest Charlotte Brontë Jane Eyre, C5

Fallende Blätter 🍂 Falling leaves #eastcoastkin #eck #scape #forestfriday #greensat

I’ve written a few lines for her. I talk about her eyes and the endless Mexican horizon, about abandoned churches and mirages over the roads that lead to the border. I don’t know why, but somehow I got the idea that Rosario is from Veracruz or Tabasco, possibly even Yucatán. Roberto Bolaño

Something of vengeance I had tasted for the first time; as aromatic wine it seemed, on swallowing, warm and racy: its after-flavour, metallic and corroding, gave me a sensation as if I had been poisoned.  #Brontëfest (Mrs. Reed gets an earful) Jane Eyre, C4

Mystery is in the morning, and mystery in the night, and the beauty of mystery is everywhere; but still the plain truth remains, that mouth and purse must be filled. The Confidence-Man. 37. Happy #MelvilleMonday , dear friends!
