Happy that the first part of my postdoctoral work with @ritamateus.bsky.social is out! Check it out to learn how electrical signals are generated, sensed and transmitted in living tissues, and why it matters for organ growth and regeneration.

Check out the tour de force by @jalehtimaki.bsky.social in its final form: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... . An elegant combination of transcriptomics, F0 screens and high end imaging unravels the cues that guide cells (here retinal horizontal cells) in an increasingly crowded tissue. #proudPI

Hot off the press!!! Proudly presenting our lab's new review on how do cells communicate to control organ size :) We focus specially on dynamic connections that operate at different timescales to regulate organ growth and morphogenesis. #devbio #SizeandShape www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Check out @jalehtimaki.bsky.social and @nordenlab.bsky.social super cool latest work! We always wondered how horizontal cells "know" where to go despite lacking attachments. Turns out they need guidance cues from two different cell types... horizontal cells are the most social cells in the eye!

Behind many scientists is a lifetime of invisible, unsustainable costs. From unpaid internships to underpaid postdocs, the economic toll of a STEM career is staggering—and it's pushing talent out. My new perspective explores this crisis. #STEM #AcademicBlueSky journals.plos.org/plosbiology/...

Great quantitative tools for small molecules and ions concentrations and dynamics, developed together with the @nadlerlab.bsky.social! And it is always great to collaborate with friends @sascha-kuhn.bsky.social :)

Yes, that is me, for those who did not yet know. This was not planned but I am very happy to go 'home' even though I will miss a lot about Portugal. If you still want to visit, hurry, otherwise see you in Cambridge. If you want to know more contact me directly. www.pdn.cam.ac.uk/news/dr-care...

So happy to see that one of my favourite microscopy images from my PhD in the @nordenlab.bsky.social is the screensaver and desktop image of the computers in the @gimmfoundation.bsky.social microcopy facility :) Is this the eye of Sauron or the eye of Caren?
