The teeming, overcrowded, very pungent city of Laandan had seen more than its fair share of odd occurrences. Quite frankly, the population had come to a point where they simply expected odd occurrences to happen, learned to live with brief moments of disappointment and brought folding chairs to many occasions on the off-chance they may find a good spot to observe the latest odd occurrence without much chance of getting caught up in it.

One week it was zombies, the next an invasion of feral squirrels, the next an outbreak of drunkenness, all the more odd since the prohibition laws had started to slowly come into force. Alright, that last one wasn’t all that odd but there was certain to be riots over it eventually and you needed a good spot near a bookie to make a little money on the outcomes. Riots were ten a Quarter Bit in Laandan. Twenty if the weather was far too humid for most people to think clearly, but not to the point where they just wanted to lie in the shade and reconsider their views about patriotism insofar as considering Bruta the greatest country in the world, which was debatable at the best of times.
