I’ve seen this sticker a few times but never fails to make me laugh. Encapsulates a lot about British football culture; a sense of place and history, humour but i would argue also shows a level of self deprecation.

‘Disbelief that you could see a starry sky from London in the 1960s’ is a new and surprising development in “mad things Americans believe about London” – albeit obviously not as egregious as the ones about Sharia law, no-go zones, etc.

Starry skies seen from a London rooftop?
Was that possible even 70 years ago?
I've been listening to *Being John Lennon* by Ray Connolly. According to one anecdote, one day at Abbey Road John accidently ingested LSD, and once he realized what he'd taken, he told the others he wasn't feeling well and they should carry on without him; he would sit and watch.
George Martin decided that what John needed was some fresh air, and being unaware that he was on acid, took John up to the roof.
According to how George Martin was quoted in the book, they witnessed beautiful starry skies from that rooftop. If it had just been John saying that I could just put it down to the drug, but the producer certainly never indulged.
Was it really possible that anyone in a city of almost eight million could see the stars? I lived in Los Angeles until 2014, and even after stricter emissions standards had significantly reduced the amount of visible air pollution, I was lucky if I could see more than a handful of stars

I read a lot on here about the importance of, and superiority of, art created by people over AI generated art. And I agree. But would *you* like to make some art? Are you free and in London on Friday 16 October? Then why not come to an event I’ve helped organise www.ticketsource.com/bloomsbury-c...

Eventually shop and call centre cooperated to sort it out.

This was resolved in classic GB2026 style, ie my parents went into an EE shop to be told that it could only be resolved over the phone, which they could do from the shop’s phone to the call centre, to be told by the call centre that it was best resolved by going into a shop.

Something very weird about this era where all types of social media accounts post in the same tone. Historical England says that “golden hour hits different” at Durham Cathedral. What would St. Cuthbert think?

At secondary school we had a Christmas assembly in Durham Cathedral every year, and most years I’d get picked to ‘do a reading’. A safe choice in the pulpit. I always used to enjoy it, but obviously the venue spoiled me, and I don’t intend to revive my act in lesser venues now.

Just listened to Steve Davis’s favourite album, Mekanïk Destruktïẁ Kommandöh, a French “rock opera concept album telling the story of a doomed Earth caught in endless war, and a prophet's prediction that sparks a large demonstration march by Earthlings to kill him.” Never again. 🇫🇷
