Understanding Pneumonic Plague • What it is: The most dangerous and virulent form of plague, affecting the respiratory system. It can occur when a person inhales infectious respiratory droplets or when another form of the disease (like bubonic plague) spreads to the lungs. Curable if treated early.

So the Russians developed a new variant of the pneumonic plague for their weapons program and oops it got out. Since it’s spread by air droplets, it’s transmissible. Most plague can be cured with antibiotics. No wonder they are freaking out. There’s no cure available. One catches it one dies.
