Every Riot grrrl band in the 90s

Still from the television show Xena: Warrior Princess showing Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer all with goofy expressions on their face

Finally got one of my favorite Marketplace finds hung up! It’s promotional artwork for Carrie Fisher as Thumbelina in Faerie Tale Theatre. I have such fond memories of that series, I was thrilled to find this already framed for $8

A Mucha-style artwork portraying Carrie Fisher as Thumbelina. She sits atop a giant bird looking down at a man playing a harp atop a giant flower. The picture is framed in gold against a blue wall.

He was already up there, by the way, and called me to ask for a tool he forgot to bring up with him.

Visiting my grandpa is always a joy because where else can I find myself looking at a second story roof and yelling “YOU DON’T NEED TO BE UP THERE” at a man born during World War Two?

I just keep thinking about all the poor souls who used the condoms and lube handed out at the same booth 💀 hopefully they got that right at least

The label alleges it’s sunscreen but I’ve never gotten this red in under 3 hours with actual sunscreen on. My face (which had spf 50 from my cc cream) is untouched but my shoulders, chest and back resemble a lobster

I wore the free sunscreen that Planned Parenthood gave out at Pride and wow, I am dangerously sunburned

We said goodbye to Whitney yesterday. I don’t have the words to say how much she meant to us and how greatly she will be missed. The house is quiet and my heart is heavy.

It hurts because they put so much love into the world, and now it suddenly feels like that much is gone. The love will remain. It still hurts of course.

i hate how much people care about their ships being "canon" now. spirk fans didn't publish zines full of fanfics in the 70s only for modern fandom to grovel at the knees of corporations and beg for things to be canon. use your imaginations, don't allow billionaires to think for you.

I know everyone is joking that the Ebenezer movie looks like a gag from 30 Rock but what makes this even funnier is that there is already a version of A Christmas Carol where Jenna from 30 Rock is the Ghost of Christmas Past.

I feel terrible for the people who lost their lives in the pontoon sinking today. At the same time I’m horrified because what do you mean 19 people took a -pontoon- into the San Francisco Bay with no life jackets?? That’s the boat version of taking a go-kart onto the highway.

I helped a friend move out of her cheating ex-boyfriend’s house this week and we took anything and everything she owned, including the light fixtures. I hope he enjoys sitting alone in the dark.

The empty space on a ceiling where a light fixture once hung.

More companies should set aside money for weird side projects. Did we ask for a weird Tekken cartoon? Not at all, but I can guarantee you some 10 year-old will watch this, become obsessed with the characters and a few years later be winning some local tournaments.

I got a recall notice on my car because the shifter cable has been known to disconnect from the transmission. Fine, whatever, I’ll bring it in. Today the dealership calls and goes “oh, yeah, they have a recall going but the manufacturer hasn’t figured out a fix yet, we’ll send you a letter.”

I was given a tiny pride flag last weekend and I couldn’t figure out where to put it so it’s in Bravern’s hands now.

A red and white toy robot holds a pride flag that is as tall as he is.

It’s such a special series! And it was so formative to so many queer anime fans in the 2000s. I think people experiencing it for the first time in 2026 can’t appreciate how novel it was to see any exploration of same-sex attraction at the time, or how foundational Utena was to later queer media.
