As Chair of the APPG on Charities and Volunteering, I was delighted to welcome a large group of individuals from the charity and volunteer sector to Parliament yesterday as part of Small Charity Week. More 👇
Mary with some of the event attendees As a former CVS worker, I understand that small charities are the foundation of civil society and local communities across the UK and in my own constituency, the City of Durham.

If we lose our local charities, we lose far more than just organisations. We lose the places that connect us in divided times. The people who are there for us where there is nowhere else to turn. The organisations that make people feel proud of where they live.

I will continue to advocate for charities and volunteers in Westminster and ensure their voices are heard by those at the top of government. 🫶🏼
