New York photo of the day Manhattan. 73°F (23° C), partly cloudy. #NYC #City #SignOfTheTimes #Travel #RushHour #FDR #Gridlock #Traffic #WeHaveASubway #EastHarlem #CyclingAdvert 🛣
Early evening scene in a hurried City on one of its busiest expressways during the rush hour; the automobiles crawl along the southbound lanes with their many red brake lights glowing because traffic ia moving sonvery slowly; a highway sign above the freeway reads "Average Travel Times: Queensboro Bridge thirty-eight minutes, Midtown Tunnel sixty minutes, Brooklyn Bridge eighty-two minutes", with the numerals illuminated with lights; for context, it takes about forty-five minutes to bicycle from here to the Brooklyn Bridge; cars are wack; a red brick public housing building stands behind the sign and rises above it toward the pink clouds of the overcast twilight sky.

This ongoing hideous experiment where tech guys think they're intellectuals because the LLM that sounds like their assistants tells them that Jesus loved the idea of the multinational corporations has to stop.

Maybe this will be controversial, but I feel Breaking Bad, unlike Better Call Saul, got worse in the later seasons when the bro fodder got more pronounced.

one of the funniest and most revealing things about america is how elite institutions really want to know what people who know nothing about anything think about fiscal and foreign policy

A lot of things make me feel kind of dumb, including how to take at face value the logic of “we are a multibillion dollar transnational industry building a vengeful elder god, and we definitely won’t stop unless you regulate us the way we want, which is a secret.”

This is the right take. American Graffiti the same. Even with young Richard Dreyfuss and Ron Howard, Harrison Ford gave that movie a smooth fierce energy when he'd pop up to drag race someone.

Something I don't get is the gas station apparel style of American patriotism so common in the U.S. that the president even bedecks himself in it. The optics would be deeply weird if Macron, for example, just went around to official events wearing a cap that said "France" on it.
