It would really be nice if every interaction I had with a doctor or the government had the correct gender on it. But my wife spent far too many years studying authoritarian governments and she's very much in the "don't call attention to yourself" camp. And I do respect that expertise.

When ants fight they don't always fight to the death. Sometimes they see which ant has longer legs by standing as tall as they can next to each other. Sometimes two ants who enjoy boating will get into such a fight near the water. This is called "The pair of docks of taller ants"
Meat ants engaged in ritualized fighting. They do not know how to operate boats. That was just for the bit.

This has got to be the most cynical use of "we are also excited to share" I have ever read.
Email excerpt:

Beginning November 2, 2026, the current version of SkipMode, using the Skip Button on your TiVo remote, will no longer be available. You will still be able to skip commercials manually using the 30-second skip (→|) and Fast Forward (••) buttons on your remote.

We are also excited to share that in November we will be testing a new Premium Auto Commercial Skip add-on service. You'll have the opportunity to try the service for free for 30 days and decide if it is right for you. After the 30-day trial period, you will have the option to opt in and add it to your TiVo account for an additional monthly fee.

I know everyone including me is eager for Dune 3, but I kinda wanna see the prequel to Dune 1 which includes the Butlerian Jihad, the fight against AI. It resulted in this unbreakable commandment: "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind." dune.fandom.com/wiki/Butleri...
As mankind spread throughout the known universe, technology advanced and eventually machines were made that would make decisions for people. This propelled the creators of these machines into a new technocratic class, effectively controlling the worlds of the common people.[2]

Mankind eventually rebelled against these machines and their creators in a nigh-religious war that sought to retake the thinking soul of mankind from the gods of machine logic.[3] After two generations of violence, humanity took pause. Following this, their gods and rituals were looked upon in a different, perhaps even jaded, light. Both were largely seen to be guilty of using fear as a means of control.[4] Hesitantly, the leaders of religions began meeting to exchange views, and a new, central religious precept was defined, that man may never be replaced by a machine.[3]

The Onion Shell: Zero-Install Tor From the Browser HOPE 26
What if anyone in the world could connect to the Tor network and benefit from its privacy protections with nothing more than a standard web browser? Volunteers globally operate a free onion network that protects Internet privacy. It prevents tracking, surveillance, and censorship. However, accessing the onion network has always required special software running as a privileged user. Often, users even install virtual machines or operate dedicated machines to isolate their applications connecting to Tor. Not all threat models are equal. Some users do not have the privileges and access to their machines necessary to connect to Tor. This is increasingly important in a world where governments are mandating OS-level PII capture and reporting. Walled garden operating systems such as iOS and Android are increasingly tightening a user’s freedom to install software such as Tor. Finally, the Tor onion network can be made available to more users on more devices through advancements in web technologies. Using The Onion Shell, users can now connect to the Tor onion network from their browser with real browser-initiated onion circuits. This talk will include demos, a discussion of the effort, and new risks this technology introduces, such as enhanced exfiltration techniques.

# Euforia

En los oscuros días antes,
‌ ‌ quería estar conforme.
Alegría era lejana,
‌ ‌ tan fuera de mi alcance.

En aquellos días brumosos,
‌ ‌ las ansias aumentaban.
No tenía la paz del alma,
‌ ‌ las preguntas me llenaban.

Hasta que me troné como un huevo.

En los luminosos días tras,
‌ ‌ el júbilo me encuentra.
El gozo quita las ansias,
‌ ‌ colma mi alma con la luz.

En los más claros días después,
‌ ‌ hay amigxs del corazón.
Ya no busco satisfacción,
‌ ‌ mi vida es euforia.
