This would be bad enough, but we are beyond even this now. We have entire blue states enacting anti-trans policy, and entire State Democratic Parties censoring their LGBTQ+ caucus from criticizing candidates on trans issues.

Mollie was at the airport in Seattle and there were too few staff, plus they were being rude, and the woman next to her said: “Alguien escupo en el café de la señora allá.” She burst out laughing. Which startled the woman who clearly didn't expect anyone outside of her family to understand. So […]

5 years ago today I went out dressed as a woman for the first time. (I had my therapist take the picture. :) I shared the event and photo on twitter and it went minorly viral (1000+ shares and lots of congrats), but the most touching reply was someone who sent me a drawing commemorating it!
A woman with long gray hair, wearing a black mask, white blouse, black skirt, and black shoes, poses for a photo. Their skirt is caught on a couch, which makes it flare out like it was an action photo.A drawing of a woman with long, gray hair wearing a white blouse, dark skirt, and black shoes, standing against a plain gray background.

Rather than cover the cost of gender affirming care for trans youth under medicaid, Colorado is voluntarily enacting the republican "taper and detransition" policy for youth on medicaid and dropping coverage. WTF.
Ironically, the first known violation of that law is now coming from the state itself. On September 18th, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) informed providers that “certain Physician-Administered Drug (PAD) services for the purposes of gender-affirming care will no longer be covered benefits for members under 18 years of age.” Two weeks later, HCPF released its full policy surrounding its updated coverage, and it somehow manages to be worse than the policies enacted by Arizona and Virginia. As Transitics reported last week, the federal rule allows for a 6-month ‘tapering’ period for youth currently receiving gender-affirming care where federal funds can still be used. And although HCPF does mention that stipulation in its policy, it also introduced a strange exception:

“Effective October 13, 2026, claims payment for GnRH/LHRH agents prescribed for gender-affirming care therapy for members under the age of 18 will not be allowed… Prior authorization for testosterone, estrogen, progesterone or medroxyprogesterone therapy for members under the age of 18,” the policy reads, “who are receiving and stabilized on therapy for gender-affirming care prior to October 13, 2026, may receive approval to allow for tapering and discontinuation of therapy.”

The exclusion of puberty blockers in the tapering policy isn’t accidental. The state’s prior authorization guidance that was updated the same day mirrors the policy and once again does not allow for a tapering period for trans kids receiving puberty blockers. And like Arizona and Virginia, Colorado has provided no indication that it has notified patients and their families. In doing so, Colorado is going far beyond what even the Trump administration intended—immediately cutting many trans kids’ care and leaving them scrambling for options.

Traveling with Aranet CO2 meter from sea level to 6000 feet can be amusing to watch on the PSI graph.
The graph shows a psi of about 14.7 up until it gets on the plane (in cargo). Then it drops to below 11.5. It bounces around a bit, but when we arrive it settles down to around 11.6.

When ants fight they don't always fight to the death. Sometimes they see which ant has longer legs by standing as tall as they can next to each other. Sometimes two ants who enjoy boating will get into such a fight near the water. This is called "The pair of docks of taller ants"
Meat ants engaged in ritualized fighting. They do not know how to operate boats. That was just for the bit.
