I want to slow the curriculum down so learning can breath, experiences can be savoured, thoughts turned over, ideas become realities. Why put my foot on the gas? Better to immerse ourselves in the broader landscape, enjoy the company, take the journey well, arrive richer.

Absolutely agree Sue.This is an expedient attempt to respond to a recruitment and retention crises rather than one which follows the evidence or has children’s rights underpinning it. Political will and substantial investment are needed to do better for children.

We don't need new routes to qualification for early years staff we need funding at a level where pay means more people are interested in working in the early years long term. You can't train up people who don't exist. Shame the DfE still isn't on here or I would tag them. #EYFS #EarlyYearsSky

The largest early years program, the "free entitlement" to funded childcare, grew from £1bn in 2001 to £4bn by 2023 (in today’s prices). Planned spending will double in the next 4 years, marking the fastest and largest expansion on record. [THREAD 1/4]
