My best tips for teaching vocabulary. 1. Don’t teach it insolation. 2. When you start new social studies and science units introduce the most important words for understanding the unit. 3. When you read a text as a class review the pronunciation and meaning of the most difficult words.

Started my MOY screening with my Gr 1 class. I’m seeing improvements in all children. Yes, still in the red but I’ve seen results go from 0-24ish with the nonsense word fluency. That’s huge growth! We need to work on fluency all around. Just picked up @timrasinski.bsky.social book to help!
