3. Support can come from so many places: perinatal peers, partners, and health care providers. We all know it takes a village for infant health, but that village can and should extend to moms as well.

2. There’s still a lot of misinformation about what a non-diet approach entails and how it can support health and wellbeing.

Some of the main takeaways? 1. Women are ready to engage in non-diet approaches to self care during the perinatal period. Think intuitive eating, finding ways to engage with movement that feel good, etc.

New research! Proud to share my first, first author paper is finally published. I’m so grateful for the mentorship of @nataliep310.bsky.social and the women who shared their experiences navigating postpartum body image, diet culture, and the ways they want to practice self care in this tender time.

At some point we have forgotten that there must be a social contract and we as reviewers, readers and colleagues expect a bare minimum, default of truthfulness, correctness and collegiality. Otherwise, we're not doing science anymore 🧪

One of the more depressing aspects of the GLP-1 stuff right now is how utterly inescapable it is. Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, there are people shrinking at alarming rates, and endless discussion of said shrinking. There's seemingly no place to just *rest.*

The best thing I did this break was leave my laptop at home. I worried that I would regret the decision & that disconnecting was something that could happen “after tenure.” If this year has shown me anything, it’s that time is our most precious resource. When it’s gone, we can’t get it back.

Listen, I know the peer review process is painfully broken. I just didn't realize the extent of brokenness. This paper has been under review for ~5 months. Any advice? Before anyone comes for me: Im not complaining without being part of the solution. I easily reviewed 20+ papers this past year.

Breast cancer diagnoses rose by over 300% between 1973 and 1992. Was there a breast cancer epidemic?! NO. Mammograms were implemented for screening in 1976. PREVALENCE is a function of being able to correctly diagnose something. This is also about autism.
