Rather than dictating behaviors, we need to make the goals of the experience legible to students, lay out strategies and approaches to solving the problem, and then give them space to explore and learn. If you forced me to take handwritten notes today, you'd be insisting that I do inferior work.

This NPR story highlights the cost of overlooking women in ADHD research. The consequences are real. A separate study found postpartum anxiety in 25% of women with ADHD (vs. 5% without ADHD) and postpartum depression in 17% (vs. 3.3%). We can’t improve women’s health if we don’t study it.

Universal childcare needs to be truly universal. Today, we took a huge step toward this vision with a $67.5 million investment in high-quality Special Education programs — coming to all five boroughs this fall.
We’re investing $67.5 M to bring more special-ed pre-k to schools across NYC. For the first time, young children with disabilities won’t have to leave their neighborhood schools to access specialized Pre-K. Instead, nationally recognized special education programs will meet students where they are, at their local schools.
