This 2D #MOF was a pleasure to study! Distinct #chiral phases emerged as a result of tilted molecules, giving us a great excuse to perform #nc-AFM 😏. Each chiral phase uniquely confined the Ag(111) surface state resulting in changes to the 2DEG band structure driven purely by structural symmetry.

What's the only thing better than one triangulene? Two triangulenes! ◀️🟰▶️ Check out our latest work just published in @angewandtechemie.bsky.social with @imdeananociencia.bsky.social 🔬 We look into the influence of dihedral angles on magnetic coupling 🧲 👇 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Triangulene dimers linked by one or two para-biphenyl units were synthesized on Au(111). STM, non-contact AFM, and scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements reveal an open-shell singlet magnetic exchange coupling for Dimer 1 (ES-T=15 mV), influenced by the dihedral angles of the two para-biphenyl units. Dimers 2′ with an ES-T=6.6 mV were obtained from a more flexible precursor equipped with one para-biphenyl linker.
