Can you imagine a juvenile parasaurolophus learning how to honk? Just pottering along beside mum or dad practicing along at like six am when the herd rises to move on. Praaaapapapap

The culture you build up around a thing is not the thing itself. There’s a reason we re-make so many myths of rebirth, burning away, destruction, renewal, and rising from ashes. The culture is a museum hall built to help illuminate the shape of a sometimes unknowable eternal core.

Same, same, same, and also same. Apologies for the driveby comment but it was for me really worth finding out just what that was (cos that’s not the usual orchiopexy scar, and could mean a whole host of other differences left hidden, or evidence of removed, that can matter deeply later in life)

This is one of my fave pieces of palaeoart ever - bebbeh Aquilops in a creek. Lively and cute, little joyful tiny ones - and then perhaps a mama Aquilops in green hiding much larger in the background. The size of a cat or large bunny. It’s just a gorgeous evocative piece. svpow.com/2017/04/22/t...
An illustration by Brian Engh of three little Aquilops juveniles pottering about in water in front of a green ferny background. The juveniles in their brown and spotted colouring blend into the mud sticks and water, while the unnoticed green large parent aquilops hides in the plant background taking up the majority of the illustration - hidden well and not at all immediately obvious.

AI-detectors are such an annoying scam, not for how many times they've already come up, but knowing that they will exist for the rest of my life, the same way there are people still using magic sticks to find water wells.

TV in 2026 is not disabusing me of the concept of Reacher: Summary Execution Teddybear. A stoic rescue dog who arrives, says "ma'am", nods, is thoughtful, specific, observant, listens, then says "These seven people must die" and proceeds to kill nineteen of them. Cops go "oh reacher!"

Books on the go in the early 90s: the Sony Data Discman. Just been reading about this while downloading a 0mhz collection version of the books and a software reader. Released in late 1991 and early 1992 for $499.99, it had a backlit LCD and used the EB format stored on 3" CDs in hard-case caddies.
From the Museum of Information site: a photo of the box for the Electronic Book Player DD-8, the Discman, with a photo of the unit itself and a hard caddy CD next to it.Also from the same site: an overhead viw of the discman with a Pocket Interpreter disc have inserted into a caddy. From the same site: a photo of the Data Discman showing its little querty rubber keyboard, direction keys and YES NO buttons. Plus the LCD screen with quite a clear blue-line artwork of a street scene, the title page for the Pocket Interpreter software.

Once I'd gone right on Hoxton there'd be signage to Lurnea somewhere south which would take me to a quiet spot I could pull over and do the final directory lookup while pulled over. Almost everything worked in those three steps!

Nanoraptor @nanoraptor.danamania.com · 03/10/2026
So the process - look up a directory before the trip to go to Lurnea. I'd see it's near Liverpool (one of the major suburbs) so I'd drive from the country out west to the freeway, to liverpool by memory/signage and remember I had to hit Hoxton in Liverpool and hang a right.

From a small town I saw my parents drive around and had a good vibe of it - only started driving around Sydney when I was 25ish. I quickly learned about six major suburbs, and if I went to go to another, drove to a major one nearby, followed signs to the smaller one, then directory rest of the way.

A microwave with a digital clock reading 12:06 above a stove with knobs and bottles on the counter. The sticker reads, “Now AI Powered! Talk to me. Ask me to do things!”A chrome-backed sticker with way too many sparkles and glow-gradients and a smiling robot face reads, “NOW AI POWERED! Talk to me. Ask me to do things!”

I have done this and it worked! Mum used to get them a couple times a year, and I was around there washing my car one time and said something hinting at it like "I'm surprised they didn't tell you you're not supposed to contact me any more, given what you lot did" and she hasn't had one since.

What's in the box? Well if you add up the contents of all seven boxes, there's 14 of them
Alternate movie poster based on David Fincher's seven/se7en - featuring 7 boxes, one with blood leaking out, the 7 boxes are in the shape of a 7. The title reads: The Cornell SE7EN. A Film By David Fincher. It is suggested in the body of the post that rather than heads being in the boxes, it is 2 of something highly sensitive each of the Cornell 7 should fittingly have removed as punishment for the horrific sexual assault they committed

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

A friend asked how I can post ESTROGEN IS MAGIC while on blockers for it to fix *the* chronic illness of my life. Because people are complex, live long lives, and all things have benefits and complications. Sometimes the benefits did their thing, and now the complications are too much. That’s all.

Hey I know how that happens! The skilled person able to do the job well was hammered into the ground with task after task after task needed right now and went into a thousand yard stare and walked out to raise dorpers in Yorkshire. Then the next person who could spell was hired and typed the sign.
