Looks like we’re using Gitmo to imprison immigrants again. This is an ICE charter airline owned by ICE’s flight broker using the callsign they use for all their ICE flights.

In any normal administration, someone caught to doing this would be terminated and prosecuted, possibly for privacy violations, possibly for espionage. As ever, that doesn't work when prosecutors are part of the conspiracy.

What this press release from the Council is saying about the libraries is deeply misleading and y'all should stop doing this: council.nyc.gov/press/2026/0... "Library Support and Restoration: $34.7 million" - THIS IS MONEY THE MAYOR HIMSELF HAD CUT FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S BUDGET.

FY27's library budget will leave public libraries UNDERFUNDED AGAIN. It doesn't keep up with inflation AND it absolutely does not meet the 0.5% the Mayor campaigned on and promised AFTER he was elected. 11 CMs also signed on. This budget looks to come in at 0.42% which is LOWER than 0.45% LAST YEAR

Don't panic yet: The site is privately owned, so the zoning provisions adopted in the NY state budget under the aegis of Dignity Not Detention apply, requiring notice and comment before any permit or certificate is issued for retrofitting. There may also be environmental issues that come to light.

Recently, Mamdani went to Rikers' graduation ceremony to talk up how NYC was committed to all the folks on Rikers thriving (I know...), & how much they had to offer to NYC. Meanwhile, he's breaking promises about library funding, & the NYPL is now cutting folks on Rikers off from library services.

The New York 4 All negotiations are going in a catastrophic direction with Hochul attempting to cement a system where local cops can send Trump's fascist goon squad after anyone born abroad, while pretending she's protecting immigrant New Yorkers.
A few days later, advocates obtained detailed notes of the governor’s newest proposal, which wouldn’t require probable cause. Legislators and advocates worry that the counterproposal is less restrictive than Hochul’s first compromise offer, since it leaves it up to individual officers to decide whether they are investigating a potential crime. Cops may be able to make that determination without establishing probable cause, a concept defined in case law, the advocates said.

“What this means in practice is that anything a police officer does in connection with or in response to a crime — and that could be a misdemeanor — would allow them to actively and affirmatively notify ICE or CBP about the person,” said Yasmine Farhang, executive director of the Immigrant Defense Project. “As long as they can say that they are initiating an investigation of any crime, they can notify ICE and CBP.”
