Watching the canvassers knock on each door in the neighbourhood and bypass my house, not even saying hello, I was in the front garden. I must be on a list somewhere, DEAF HOUSE, DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PERSON,. It happens quite regularly to Deaf people at election time. I know who NOT to vote for.

One of my favourite places on the Dingle Peninsula, Gallarus Oratory, is always worth a visit. The church was constructed some time around the 9th—11th century, from a single continuous corbelled vault, with the splayed walls of the base supporting the roof, giving it the shape of an upturned boat.

Anyone in need of some ancient art to brighten up your day? In need of some _cute_ ancient art? How about this marvel from (probably) the first century CE Rome, currently held in the Getty museum, of a bronze mouse nibbling away!

The perfect combo: the entrance to the steps to the Chapter House at Wells Cathedral is fronted with a delightful medieval door. I don't think I've seen any photographs that include it. So it took a pic..📸

You have to actually SAY THE THING for change to occur. No more friendly acronyms or umbrella euphemisms. Say "Anti-Black racism". Stop trying to create soft and gentle terms for what is actually happening and ungently harming real people.

My favourite book back then was Wizard of Earthsea. You can imagine my delight when I found out it was the 1st of a series.

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models. In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013.

“Torrenting from a corporate laptop doesn’t feel right”: Meta emails unsealed

A photo of Aaron Swartz (1986-2013) when he was 19.

Last month, Meta admitted to torrenting a controversial large dataset known as LibGen, which includes tens of millions of pirated books. But details around the torrenting were murky until yesterday, when Meta's unredacted emails were made public for the first time. The new evidence showed that Meta torrented "at least 81.7 terabytes of data across multiple shadow libraries through the site Anna’s Archive, including at least 35.7 terabytes of data from Z-Library and LibGen," the authors' court filing said. And "Meta also previously torrented 80.6 terabytes of data from LibGen."
