The word 'Gestapo' gets thrown around a lot these days. 'Gestapo' is a contraction word and it stands for 'Geheime Staatspolizei,' or 'Secret State Police' You see these monsters standing around in masks, assaulting them, and detaining people without recourse, and yeah. The term fits.

So what are lower-risk choices than marching/demonstrating? Make signs for others. Stand by with bail money. Be an emergency contact. Be on hand with a vehicle to get people physically out of whatever. Donate money or supplies to support those on the ground. Write letters to the editor.

In a fascist country, you're always at risk of injury or death, and more so if you are doing anything opposing the regime. Everyone has to decide their own level of comfort when it comes to risk, but you need to understand that nobody is safe in a fascist country, least of all those who want change.

Disturbing images from the scene have been circulating, some of which appear to show MPD engaging with federal agents, blocking streets, and doing crowd control to facilitate whatever federal operation was occurring. Mayor Frey stated the only role MPD had was “crowd control”.
