Hot take: I spoke with a big important person at a big important company. I messaged this person on LinkedIn. Got an answer within 15 minutes where they could not spell my name right. I kept trying to tell myself it would be ok. Nah. Kept getting worse. So that's my new red flag.

4/ My take: pilot it, don't roll it out. 2-3 read-only tools (order status, stock check). Nothing that spends money or touches an order. Guardrails exist (OpenAI reviews every call, purchases still need customer confirmation) but test small first.

2/ OpenAI shipped WebMCP support in ChatGPT's browser. Sites register tools right in their page code (search orders, check delivery). ChatGPT calls them live, using the customer's existing session. No separate login needed.

Agentic ecommerce news (it's a thread): WebMCP 1/ Every website is about to become its own AI integration. ChatGPT can now check your order status or stock directly, using code you already have. No server, no vendor contract. That's the whole barrier now: a small dev task.
Site tools
Use WebMCP to give AI agents a direct way to work with your website

Site tools are ChatGPT’s implementation of the proposed WebMCP standard. With WebMCP, a website can offer useful actions directly to an AI agent alongside the interface people already use. You and the agent can work with the same live page and signed-in session.

In the built-in browser in the ChatGPT desktop app, ChatGPT Work and Codex can discover and use these tools when they are available.

Use GPT-5.6 Sol or GPT-5.6 Terra for site tools. GPT-5.6 Luna currently has WebMCP disabled. Update the ChatGPT desktop app to the latest version. Site tools aren’t available in Enterprise or Edu workspaces. Availability also depends on rollout and the tools provided by the current page.

WebMCP vs. MCP

Model Context Protocol (MCP) connects an AI application to a local or remote server. Its tools can work independently of an open webpage, such as searching a service or managing records through an API.

WebMCP lets a website make its capabilities available to an agent as a set of predefined tools. The agent can discover them when it visits, so people don’t need to install a separate MCP server or set up another connection to use those capabilities.

Claude's text watermark means changing which words get picked at "low stakes" moments. IMO word choice is NOT "low stakes". Synonyms carry their own mood, history, voice. A statistical model can't account for all of that considering it treats words as interchangeable. Language is not fungible.

Hacking is getting polite. In June, attackers opened a chat with Meta's AI Support Assistant, asked it to add a new email to the victim's account, got a verification code sent to their own inbox, then walked away with a password reset button. I wrote an SEL article on what it means for marketers.

Training crawlers versus retrieval agents. One ingests your content for free to train models, and the other indexes your page in real time to answer user questions. You're subsidizing model training with infrastructure costs that produce no return.

Your brand layers matter in AI search a lot more than they did in regular Google SERPs. I'm discussing the brand control quadrant with Gianluca because I can't be the only one dealing with clients haunted by old PDFs and forums feedling LLMs outdated info.

I like to start at the end sometimes. LLMs don't hand people a category page and tell them to go and browse. They pull out products. So what happens to the category and collection pages? I answer that at the AI Search & Systems Summit on 13 August. It's free! searchto.sale/summit

Slide 1 of 5, titled "Your help center." Explains that hidden instructions in support pages can make an AI summarizer surface a fake account alert and a malicious QR code inside a chat window, with no blocklist stopping it. Source credited to Permiso's ChatGPhish research.Slide 2 of 5, titled "The comparison content you don't control." Explains that a competitor's comparison article can hide a paragraph that reads as normal prose to a person but as a command to an AI browsing agent. Source credited to Promptfoo.Slide 3 of 5, titled "Your podcast, video, and voice content (multimodal GEO)." Explains that instructions can hide in images and in audio at frequencies people can't hear, and that a voice's tone alone can bypass AI safety filters with no code. Sources credited to i10X and StyleBreak research.Slide 4 of 5, titled "Your customer support agent." Explains that an AI agent holding both an untrusted input and a privileged tool can be manipulated through that input, referencing the June 2026 hijacking of Instagram accounts through Meta's AI assistant. Machines optimize. People differentiate. Same structure, same order, same concepts as the top result means you are a variant of a thing, not the main show. As quoted in SEO Confidential. Full piece linked in comments.
The Von Restorff effect tells us that people notice what stands out. You can’t differentiate yourself by doing exactly what everyone else is doing, only 2% better. If your goal is to optimize something to the extreme, rely on machines. If you want to create something new, effective, and truly distinctive, rely on people.

Every AI answer opens with a paragraph of throat-clearing and buries the actual instruction at the bottom. That's almost always unusable for an ADHD brain. Installed ayghri's i-have-adhd skill. Ten rules. All of them just good technical writing that helps.
