I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

There's no declaration of war, and no AUMF that covers this. Entering this war is wrong on the merits; we had a perfectly peaceful way to address Iran's nuclear program. It's also unlawful. A democratic republic should not be able to enter a war of choice on one man's say-so.

Time for another pollinators tip! Pollinators need places to lay eggs, overwinter and just hide. Old logs, dead plant stalks, fall leaves, and other "messy" areas are all good for pollinators. Flowers are just a food source. They need homes and nurseries too! So let's keep things a bit messy! 🌱 🌎

"Not for you." Palestinian citizens of Israel--21% of the population--are being excluded from bomb shelters on the basis of their ethnicity. This is the society the West will defend at all costs. www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/6/...
Mostly living in cities, towns, and villages within Israel’s internationally recognised borders, many Palestinian citizens of Israel found themselves excluded from life-saving infrastructure during the worst nights of the Iran-Israel conflict to date.

For Samar al-Rashed, a 29-year-old single mother living in a mostly Jewish apartment complex near Acre, the reality of that exclusion came on Friday night. Samar was at home with her five-year-old daughter, Jihan. As sirens pierced the air, warning of incoming missiles, she grabbed her daughter and rushed for the building’s shelter.

“I didn’t have time to pack anything,” she recalled. “Just water, our phones, and my daughter’s hand in mine.”

The panicking mother tried to ease her daughter’s fear, while hiding her own, gently encouraging her in soft-spoken Arabic to keep up with her rushed steps towards the shelter, as other neighbours climbed down the stairs, too.

But at the shelter door, she said, an Israeli resident, having heard her speak Arabic, blocked their entry – and shut it in their faces.

“I was stunned,” she said. “I speak Hebrew fluently. I tried to explain. But he looked at me with contempt and just said, ‘Not for you.’”

www.projectalberta.org/ucp_charge_f...? My letter:
Good morning,

I am e-mail today to express my outrage that MY government would take any of its policy ques from the United States, especially health related policies like vaccine recommendations.

I would appreciate it if MY province's government would take its medical policy advice from Health Canada and the actual experts such as physicians, medical colleges, and epidemiologists.

Giving in to United States pressure, like this government has done on multiple occasions, most recently adding United States made alcohol back to AGLC's lists, is the opposite of Elbows Up. This pandering and falling in line with would be authoritarian regimes is dangerous. It shows me as an Albertan and as a Canadian that this UCP government cares more about keeping a good relationship with a corrupt fledgling dictatorship than it does its own people.

The UCP says it isn't interested in separation but it sure is showing us that it thinks Alberta should be getting closer to the USA vs strengthening ties within Canada and limiting its interactions with the USA.

I have been disappointed in the UCP's running of this province for a while but this is too much. The extreme and overt capitulation with our southern neighbours is disturbing and telling. The average Alberta isn't an anti-vax, tin foil hat wearing white supremacist. The UCP needs to start listening to the rest of us and not the tiny crack pot base that worships a geriatric, cognitively compromised foreign leader.
