#SectieBink #ElkeDagEenRups #ElkeDagEenInsect

A bumblebee can only fly for about 40 minutes between feeding. But we've lost 97% of our wiłdflower meadows. So each nectar-rich flower you plant in a windowbox or your garden or community green space could be the pit stop that saves a bee 🐝

Ancient Greek cup in the shape of a cow’s hoof! 🐮❤️ A novelty wine cup from some 2,500 years ago! The Met 📷 by me www.metmuseum.org/art/collecti... #Archaeology
My photo shows an Attic terracotta red-figure drinking cup. The lower part of the cup is in the shape of a cow's hoof coloured orangey-red with faint vertical black brush strokes. There is a wider black line down the front of the hoof which may represent a cow’s cloven hoof The upper part of the cup is cylindrical with a single black handle and outsplayed rim. It is painted with a detailed landscape scene depicting a seated herdsman, with two cows, a dog and a hare. The figures are orangey-red against a black sip background. My photo shows the side of the cup depicting the herdsman and one of the cows. The herdsman wears shoes, a cap, and a cloak of fur or hide. Height of cup 10.3 cm. The cup is attributed to a painter recalling the Brygos Painter
circa 470–460 BC.

This 2,300 year-old owl with oversized eyes has a cute cartoon-like charm! 🦉❤️ Marble relief from the slopes of the Athenian acropolis. Acropolis Museum, Athens 📷 by me #ReliefWednesday #Archaeology
My photo shows an ancient Athenian relief of a standing owl carved into a block of marble. The owl is shown frontally with large round eyes with prominent circular pupils giving it a wide-eyed, cartoonish expression. It has a small pointed beak and a rounded body with folded wings, and two short legs. The weathered marble has a stone-coloured rough texture.

It once adorned the lower left part of a marble seat excavated from the south slope of the Acropolis in Athens, possibly from the Odeon of Pericles (a theatre). It is an owl of the Athena noctua species which still inhabit the Acropolis area today. The owl was Athena's sacred bird, a symbol of both the goddess and the city of Athens, which explains why it would have been chosen to decorate a public building such as the Odeon. Classical period, 4th century BC. Dimensions: height 0.35 m, length 0.24 m, width 0.155m.
