modern marketing depts sand off so many edges by trying to appeal to a "median consumer" that doesn't even exist, the real answer is to make your project "spiky" and weird so it appeals intensely in some meaningful way to many separate, yet smaller groups.

got commissioned for t4t stephcass based on issue #16 of the 2022 batgirl run in which spoiler gets turned into a giant bat monster girl
