Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Somehow I’ve (embarrassingly) made it this far in life without trying anything by Burke. About to change that. 030 3
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Happy Release Day to #BonnieGarmus, whose LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY is an all-timer for me. Not sure this new one could ever hope to reach my expectations for it, but I sure as hell look forward to finding out. 000 0
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 06/10/2026p.s. Don’t think for a second that I missed this passage, @coyhall.bsky.social. 231 3
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 05/10/2026(3 of 3) THE COLD DARK FOREVER is yet another excellent entry in an already-impressive library of storytelling. Heartily recommended, and if you haven’t read his other works, make sure you track them down as well. Just top-notch writing across the board. 150 5
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 05/10/2026(1 of 3) For the second time in a month, I was treated to a modern novel that harkens back to the halcyon days of 50’s crime paperbacks. @cwblackwell.bsky.social THE COLD DARK FOREVER follows one man’s quick descent from fisherman to fugitive to full-on criminal, and does it oh-so-well. 1123 12
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026When dogs walk by outside, Max barks his little vocal cords raw. When turkeys walk by outside, he has no idea what to do. 020 2
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 21/09/2026MN was in the 60’s today. It was glorrrrrrrrious. 010 1
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 20/09/2026THE ONES IN THE CORNER by @cmattwrite.bsky.social is easily the most fun I’ve had with a book all year. The very definition of a page-turner, it hooked me early and wouldn’t let go, keeping me glued to the chair through a few long sittings. Dark, bleak, gritty storytelling. Highly recommended. 374 7
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Well, lookee what we have here, @cwblackwell.bsky.social. Off to go start it, stat! 151 5
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I started THE ONES IN THE CORNER last night, and I gotta tell you, @cmattwrite.bsky.social: you’ve got me hook-line-and-sinker. Only 60ish pages in, but haven’t stopped thinking about it today. Can’t wait to dive back in later tonight. 170 7
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Before he passed, he was releasing his crime stories in collections called “Honorable Whoredom at a Penny a Word.” I had the first collection, and it was a blast. Never picked up the second one. Last I checked, they were OOP and cost a fortune on the secondary market. 😕 010 1
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 14/07/2026More #BookMail, more short stories. My favorite magazine of the year is the Detective Annual from Guilty. Good reading ahead! 040 4
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 13/07/2026I’m in a short-story frame of mind, so today’s #BookMail is timely. Looking forward to what @literarygarage.bsky.social and @kmwriter01.bsky.social put together in this one. 031 3

Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 23/06/2026I’ve been lax on my #BookMail posts lately, so playing catch-up now. The first batch is from @pmpress.bsky.social’s Outspoken Authors series. Doesn’t get more legendary than these two. @joerlansdale.bsky.social #NormanSpinrad 062 6
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 08/06/2026(1 of 2) I had no idea SNL alum #KateMcKinnon started a YA series of books! Reminiscent of A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Mysterious Benedict Society, McKinnon’s debut showcases her trademark humor, wit, and creativity, offering up a delightful reading experience. 210622 106
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Nice! Placed my preorder at Bookshop just now. Looking forward to it. 110 1
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 27/05/2026I was lucky enough to snag an early copy of @brandonbarrows.bsky.social’s upcoming release, THE DARKER THE NIGHT, a novel that starts innocently enough — a man taking a road trip to visit his young son — but turns into a disaster when his ex is found murdered shortly after his arrival. 231 3
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 15/05/2026SEVEN ANGELS by @keithroysdon.bsky.social is a pressure cooker of a novel, weaving together a disparate set of characters — some with hopes of reviving the titular small town, others intent on bleeding its populace dry — and hurtling them towards a confrontation that leaves no one unscathed. 261 6
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 11/05/2026Today’s #BookMail is another highly anticipated novel: THE DARKER THE NIGHT from @brandonbarrows.bsky.social, a writer who never fails to bring the goods. Right to the top of the pile it goes. 151 5
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Today’s #BookMail is the first installment in Stark House’s new Whipcrack Western series. Love Marvin Albert/Al Conroy’s crime fiction (my favorite being DEVIL IN DUNGAREES), but I’ve never tried his westerns. I look forward to checking this out. 051 5
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 30/04/2026Today’s #BookMail is one of my most-anticipated releases of the year: @keithroysdon.bsky.social’s new novel, SEVEN ANGELS. Can’t wait to dive in later today. 061 6
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 25/04/2026Happy #IndependentBookstoreDay! I stopped by my local shop, Lykke Books, and walked away with some new titles. You should do the same at your local indie. They need our support now more than ever. 030 3
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 25/04/2026(1 of 5) The short version: KANSAS CITY BREAKDOWN, the second book in the Detective Keegan/Gunselle series by @meproctor.bsky.social and @russellthayer10.bsky.social, is a sexy, pulpy noir that pulls even with its predecessor before mashing down the pedal and blowing right by. So freakin’ good. 241 4
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 17/04/2026Just saw RATINGS GAME by #RyanCThomas is back with a 20th Anniversary edition. This book is a pulpy, demented, over-the-top, darkly comedic look at the news and what it takes to stay at the top. I read it a few years back and had a lot of fun with it. You might too. Link below. 140 4
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 15/04/2026#BookMail, Part Two: an oldie from #JackFinney, recommended by @brandonbarrows.bsky.social. 162 6

Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 05/04/2026It’s been awhile since I’ve read a short story as gonzo as “All In” from #RonClyburn. I can say it involves a hitman and a target, but not much else without spoiling the fun. Had me flipping pages as fast as I could. An absolute riot. 140 4
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 05/04/2026“The Predator’s Daughter” by #JeffSoloway explores the feelings of surviving family members after the patriarch - a respected professor and author - passes away to accusations of being a sexual predator throughout his life. Packs a one-two punch that takes your breath away. 040 4
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 04/04/2026Finally digging into the latest issue of Guilty, which is lead off by the always-on-his-game @brandonbarrows.bsky.social. “Danny Said” centers on a trio of lifelong friends, detailing what happens when one breaks bad, dragging the other two into the shit. Excellent story, per usual. 151 5
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 18/03/2026And here’s the real pocket watch, given to me by my grandpa Ken. Unlike the character in the story, I have no ambivalence toward it. 😉 030 3
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 17/03/2026A couple titles from @pmpress.bsky.social in my recent #BookMail. As an aside, their sticker game is on point. 060 6

Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 05/03/2026LINE OF SIGHT by @jqwritesstuff.bsky.social is an excellent bit of crime fiction, detailing a race-related case taken on by reporter-turned-PI Russ Avery. From the gritty Newark setting to the cast of drug dealers, crooked cops, reporters, and activists, this debut keeps the pages turning. 172 7
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 18/02/2026About a quarter of the way through THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT and came to “Wrong Fucking Place, Wrong Fucking Time” by @crobertcargill.bsky.social, a tale that melds love-of-movies with the goings-on of THE STAND, creating a wild story I won’t soon forget. Well done, sir. 3252 25
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 18/02/2026A break from the usual #BookMail to show off a new t-shirt and sticker from @pmpress.bsky.social. Go check out their stuff. They’ve published some of my favorite books in recent years, and their other merch is excellent as well. 051 5
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 18/02/2026Mercy #1: A Lady’s Vengeance is a helluva series debut from @pointofimpactbooks.bsky.social, following the title character as she hunts down her family’s killers. Love Mercy’s progression from angry-but-green wannabe to hardened gunslinger as she gains experience, barreling toward the epic finale. 166 6
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Despite working from home for ages, I’ve never had a proper office space. This past month we’ve been redoing some rooms in our basement, and I now have a nook in one of the bedrooms. So happy to have a place for work and writing! Wifey even got me some finishing touches for V-Day.☺️ 270 7
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 13/02/2026Brand new adult western series from @pointofimpactbooks.bsky.social debuts today! Go grab a copy of what is sure to be an action-packed tale of revenge. 2127 12
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 10/02/2026Reading #RobertBloch’s PSYCHO for the first time. What an incredible novel. I’ve seen the movie, so no real surprises here, but I can’t stop thinking about how amazing it would’ve been to read it upon release, completely shocked by the twists and turns. It had to be jaw-dropping. 272 7
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 08/02/2026(1 of 3) As someone who spent countless hours scouring dungeons in the likes of The Bard’s Tale, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, and Diablo, I’m stunned it took me this long to get to @mattdinniman.bsky.social’s DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL. The short answer: I loved it. 120 2
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 06/02/2026Today’s #BookMail is a new one from @jameygallagher.bsky.social. I mean, how could I pass up a quirky book about (maybe, maybe not?) Idris Elba?! 1102 10
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 03/02/2026The newest issue of Guilty Crime Story Magazine was in today’s #BookMail. Always a pleasure to crack the cover on one of these. 060 6
Andrew Monge @muchadoaboutnil.bsky.social · 02/02/2026Got news today that my short-short, “From A to Z,” was a Cupid’s Choice selection for January 2026. How cool is that?! Thanks to @micromancemagazine.bsky.social for giving it a home, as well as the support you offer *all* of your authors. Happy to be part of the fam. ❤️ 022 2
