The peace and relaxation you can find in nature is priceless and no price is too high to protect it. The way we treat nature is the way we treat ourselves. It is worth thinking about this, dear governments and decision-makers worldwide. We only have this one wonderful planet.💚

The last three months are the warmest on record globally, relative to every other June-July-August period since 1850. Data from NOAA/NCEI's NOAAGlobalTempv6.1.0.
Line graph time series of global land mean surface temperature anomalies for each June-August period from 1850 through 2026. There is a long-term increasing trend and large year-to-year variability. The mean surface temperature anomaly averaged for June-August 2026 was 1.21°C for global land areas. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1901-2000 climate baseline. Due to heavy autumn and winter rains across central Australia, I predicted that it would be a bumper spring/summer season for budgies and cockatiels. Well, I wasn't wrong! There were 1000s of budgies and cockatiels at Gluepot. That's not an exaggeration. It was incredible.

Street lamps, vehicles and the Chicago skyline #lights appear on bright display in a view from South Canal Street. It's a warm autumn night. September 2026. #BlueskyArtShow #ChicagoNocturnal #photography #nightshot #cityscape #Chicago
The cars' lights are blurred due to their speed and appear in different hues of white, light blue, yellow and red. Three street lamps are nearby, and their lights are shown in a star pattern. The lights of the distant skyline, with the Willis Tower at the center, appear in a warmer tone against a dark sky.

90% of excess heat trapped on Earth, due to the thickening blanket of carbon pollution, is eventually stored in our oceans - much of it subsurface. A strong #Hurricane can tap that extra heat to overachieve. 5/

Good morning everyone! Lately, hope and optimism seem hard to find. Instead of looking outside ourselves for hope, each of us can be a little of the change we want to see. Offer a smile, do something helpful, spread some hope. Someone needs you. And it will help you feel better at the same time.
I saw this hibiscus in front of a public building yesterday.

In 1913, Gandhi said, “if we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.”

‘We must slow the pace’: CEO of Anthropic calls for an AI slowdown
In a social media post, Dario Amodei proposed a plan including third-party evaluations of AI systems The CEO of the artificial intelligence company Anthropic issued a new appeal on Saturday for the AI industry to “slow down” and offered a three-part plan for doing so, saying that his company would “unilaterally” commit to the first of the steps. In a post on social media, Dario Amodei shared a link to an essay titled We Must Pace the Frontier in which he lays out how Anthropic would provide “third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training”.
