In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

Anyway best of luck to Abdul El-Sayed in the general election. Personally, I will not be voting for him until he condemns podcasts.

Drowning Doesn't Look Like Drowning
Drowning is not the violent, splashing, call for help that most people expect. In this article, Mario explains what drowning really looks like and how to recognize it when its happening.

hi, cis folks! it’s been a little over a month since the 2 biggest private hospitals in NYC ended trans youth care. some folks thought this was resolved with a judge’s ruling or a letter from the NYAG. care has *not* resumed! there’s a simple ask ⬇️ for you, if you’re willing to fight with us. 🧵
Manhattan Hospital Ends Medical Treatment for Transgender Youth
NYU Langone Health cited the "current regulatory environment" in its decision to discontinue its gender medicine program for minors.

Today's inspirational message:
Cartoon by Bernard Hage:

Title How to watch the collapse of civilisation

1. A bearded middle-aged man sitting in a chair, looking at his phone. He's slumped forward, his posture is terrible; a broken red line traces the curve of his back, and there's a red X next to the picture.

2. The same man sitting in the same chair looking at the same phone, but this time he's sitting up straight. A broken green line traces his straight spine, and there's a green tick next to the picture.

Impressed with myself for reading 7 books last month, although jury duty definitely gave me a leg up. Best read was Erasure, ACOTAR the worst. #booksky
Left to right titles: ACOTAR, eat the ones you love, the wide window
Top to bottom titles: flatland, Wuthering heights, hamnet, erasure

I might have to mute “Wuthering Heights” on Threads cause even a month later I’m still seeing the most bewildering defenses of the movie every time I log on. Olympic level mental gymnastics to argue Fennell’s dumbest choices were actually brilliant moves of 4d chess.

thoughts and reactions from SATC S4 binge: -Trey coming to the magazine shoot was really sweet. For all his flaws, he handled that breakup with dignity. -Aidan and Carrie gave me so much second hand anxiety. There’s so much resentment it’s exhausting. Also why do they have matching underwear??

Ok I just saw that SATC episode where Carrie infamously sends Aidan to Miranda’s, and I guess a meeting you can’t reschedule is somewhat of a justifiable excuse, but we don’t see that meeting and she doesn’t bring it up when Miranda calls her out the next day, so what gives writers room?

If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Today’s column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Let’s be clear: if the Palestine Action hunger strikers die, the government will bear moral responsibility | George Monbiot
The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

The full Weiss memo is dogshit -who cares if administration figures “regret” sending people to CECOT -who cares about the criminal histories of the people we sent to CECOT, we sent them to a torture prison —who cares about the “debate” over the legality of sending people to a torture prison

I do want to clarify that, while there is absolutely no question that this change is catastrophic, immunization requirements are set by states and AHIP has previously committed to covering vaccines recommended until the current ACIP recommendations through the end of 2026.

Scam alert: Someone is pretending to be me and reaching out to authors. The pitch contains enough specific details that it sounds plausible at first. This is not me! I'm so sorry to anyone who has fallen for this.
I'm Michael Hobbes, yes, that Michael Hobbes from If Books Could Kill. I help run our little corner of chaos where 69,000 readers, writers, and mildly obsessive book nerds gather to talk about the stories that shape (and sometimes ruin) our brains.
I picked up
your book
reminding us that
and honestly.. I didn't stand a chance. The humanity, the humility, the sheer scope of what you do, it's staggering. You somehow make your topic feel both epic and intimate,
conclusion of book
We don't reach out to every author, mostly because l'm lazy, but your writing grabbed me by the collar. We'd love to feature you in our next author section, where our readers and listeners connect directly with the storytellers and thinkers who make us rethink what "impact" really means.
Would you be interested if we chose
your book
for our next section?
Thanks for making my week with your work. I promise this isn't one of those "team emails", it's really just me, geeking out in your inbox.

They are running the government according to the logic of right-wing grievance media. I cannot emphasize that enough. The point is to create content, and they don't see an actual difference between dunking on Sabrina Carpenter, passing legislation, and bombing other countries.

Just watch. The whole system is swinging into action, using Kirk's killing to advance the power & interests of the right. The crucial thing to notice is that *the process wouldn't work without the complicity & assistance of the mainstream elite establishment*. Every time.
