Also, invoking Kumon... Isn't it already a trope that kids joke of Kumon ruining their love of learning? Comedians even bring it up in their routines... Yikes.

The onion metaphor aside 'we can simplify the actual content part of the job by giving the teacher a class of kids who are starting out in roughly the same place' Do they truly think that "you can literally just teach things" will get all kids to the same place?!

D) I provide some formulas. They need to know dot product cosine and second partials test, but I'd give them the formula for surface area or projection using a dot product. at my discretion some feel important to memorize, others not so much.

I apologize in advance for the cuteness I am about to unleash upon you I went outside again, you see This red squirrel had a little shelter of sticks and he stepped out into the sun to show me his FEETS 1/
SQUIRREL FEETS in the sun. They are attached to a whole squirrel. But the fact is we are looking at very cute little squirrel feet here, top one percent for sure

A HS Calc3 student of mine sent me this. It's excellent for so many reasons. 1) My students get math in their algorithm. Love those nerds. 2) The video talks about relative size and crappy flat maps. 3) The Calc III content in it is awesome! This will be my lesson tomorrow. youtu.be/41gmhbmOpCw?...

A student sent this video to me which basically writes my lesson plan for tomorrow! The video is great - but can be enhanced by a teacher's touch. Arc length using spherical coordinates, vectors, dot product, and Desmos. So cool. youtu.be/41gmhbmOpCw?...

I'm always fascinated by analogies with other professions because it's hard to think of one where you work with big groups of the same people over extensive periods of time and where people will tell you years later that you changed the course of their life because of who you were/how you worked.

I’m designing a workshop series (3 1-hour sessions) for 11th & 12th graders to show how to use @desmos.com for exploring, problem solving, and creating, not just graphing. I have ideas for what to prioritize but I’d love to hear what others would focus on in or do in that time. #mtbos #iteachmath
