The way that I approached it to not overload the player is to just limit the number of tags to about 6 and then provide additional passives depending on the actions the player takes in combat. Since the player is choosing actions in a JRPG style, the tactics come from action selection and such.

To anyone seeing this post, I really recommend giving #LimbusCompany a try. I know that the Gatcha genre, Korean-only VA, and visual novel storytelling style might turn some people down, but this game has a superb story worth experiencing.

A Solo Game either needs to be simple enough to run with the pieces on hand or require aids and additions to streamline the process of running it. You can always tell which games were made with Solo Rules first and which ones had Solo Rules added on after the fact.

It's how my best friend got his nickname. He told me his name and I forgot it but I did remember where he came from (Rhode Island) so I just kept calling him Rhode and it stuck. I learned his name a year later but the nickname is our preference.

I just received an achievement on Royal Road for officially having 25,000 people look at the story I currently have on hiatus and I'm trying real hard to believe that Dead Internet Theory isn't a thing and that the 500 people that made it all the way to the end of the chapters are real. Awesome!

The more I do game design work for my games and think about the math behind satisfying challenges, the less inclined I've grown to include such a high variance die like the D20. I feel like games with more accessible dice like the D6 or games that use a combo of cards and dice are more interesting.

Just finished Ending A of Limbus Company's Canto 10 and I'm genuinely struck by the creativity and raw narrative excellence that Project Moon continues to achieve in a fucking Gacha Game. They taken the model of live service and have created a story so rich in history and connections that I weep.

Ed was in a fucked up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before. He told me that the words
"Free Palestine" and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood.
