My mum the same, she taught me to read & struggles with it herself. Both of them would quiz me on studies in a way that felt overly parental at 19... 100

You don't grow up on a council estate & work menial jobs most of your life & get Shakespeare or have people make time to explain Joyce to you. So much of life since has been about work & production & doing enough to live, rather than learning or joy & resentment/grit can make us hard to that in a way I don't love. 100
