if the localization team is able to hit on a really catchy, memorable title then it's fine to use it but imo 9/10 times the actual winner is the abbreviation of the Japanese title, and you can tell this is broadly true by how often localizations will use the JP abbreviation with an English subtitle

tangent but I also think in the era of simultaneous global releases, where people have maybe a few months, if not only weeks, to workshop titles to try and find A Really Good One, instead of the possibly years people could have had in the past on average title localizations just aren't as good

One thing that's very interesting about the action is that it confirms Precure's current sense of coolness was codified by Yuu Yoshiyama. It doesn't matter that she wasn't even around nor that the timing of the animation is unlike hers: traits of her style (easter egg impact frames!) still appear

With a Supreme Court ruling on the horizon, Marriage for All Japan's "Yes! To Marriage Equality" campaign has expanded to all 47 prefectures. Last week, they announced a petition, an exhibition, and a documentary series. Read about it in my latest piece for @unseenjapan.com:

just learned that VNDB deleted Heaven Burns Red because it has too much gameplay or some shit, but what they actually did was remove useful pages of staff credits. remember, the mods are opposed to the idea of a database. they want to curate what they think is a visual novel, not be a resource.

Show about a normal-looking individual who will take great offense at minimally inconvenient everyday interactions but never lash out in the moment, instead storing those anecdotes to ramble about them to her audience. Wada Food Court, you're NL The Animation

Oh yeah and if the idea ysym was told to hold back on because it was Too Much wasn't an insane visual concept but the girls kissing in the henshin... well that would be fucking hilarious because she included Effectively That in all the stock footage, reanimating it every time as if making a point

If I had a cent for every time Toei has deported a mahou shoujo production & a supremely rad animator associated with those titles saved the day regardless, I might start being able to afford buying stuff. Also that animator's always the same person. Ysym is the truth www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5dp...
