Film lovers will, of course, remember when Jack Nicholson played me in 1995's The Crossing Guard.

Almost a full week of being a crossing guard. The kids and parents are all very nice, and I have a bright yellow raincoat, which came in handy during the downpours of today and yesterday. Also, it's a strangely satisfying feeling to perform a necessary and useful job, and be thanked for it.

My point being, she doesn't wear then take off a ponytail and glasses. Her inner kindness and obvious joy at finally being "accepted" gives her a transcendent glow...before being doused in blood and mocked...which makes her transition into a homicidal monster that much more effective and tragic.
