Ah yes, perhaps the most beloved literary trope of all: the classic McMuffin
A screenshot that reads: Moore throws in a Hitchcock-style McMuffin in the shape of a secret tape recording which will reveal just who has been betraying the gangsters.
The problem is that no-one has a machine on which to play it.

This is possibly the worst thing I have ever read. It should be the only headline on every news source. It won't be. If you've experienced sexual assault, maybe don't read the details.

Finished The Bureau - French TV show currently being adapted into The Agency - last night. An all-time favorite series. A stark, fitting finale for beloved characters. It's very French, but can't recommend highly enough.

Cue the sun
Sunrise over lower Manhattan, viewed from Terminal C at Newark Airport. The fiercely glowing sun leaves everything orange or in shadow. Hints of skyscrapers in the background, with traces of cloud at the upper right. A plane lingers in the middle of the shot.

Dawn, 9/12
A zoomed in view of lower Manhattan from Newark Airport C terminal just before sunrise on September 12, 2026. An orange hue to the sky over the skyscrapers with faint streaks of cloud. The Freedom Tower and its spire are prominent. In the foreground, planes with United livery wait on the tarmac.

She also could tell a fuckin story
When the 1974 recording of the song reached number one on the country charts, Elvis Presley indicated that he wanted to record the song.
Parton was interested until Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, told her that it was standard procedure for the songwriter to sign over half of the publishing rights to any song Elvis recorded.
[28] Parton refused. She recalls:
I said, 'I'm really sorry,' and I cried all night. I mean, it was like the worst thing. You know, it's like, Oh, my God... Elvis Presley.' And other people were saying, 'You're nuts. It's Elvis Presley!'...I said, 'I can't do that.
Something in my heart says, 'Don't do that. And I just didn't do it... He would have killed it. But anyway, so he didn't. Then when Whitney [Houston's version] came out, I made enough money to buy Graceland. 29]

Plenty to reflect about re: the Arday affair, but I'm going to repeat this one thing. The playbook the right used here is effective even though it's not especially sophisticated, as it relies on the audience to do the dirty work. I've been calling it "Trojan horse propaganda", let's go with that. 1/

It's so deeply wrong to make comments implying that a prominent person's suicide is a logical response to another individual's horrid behaviour towards them. At best, it's an oversimplification of complex mental health struggles At worst, it sets an example and permission structure for others.
