I did a thing! A very big thank you to Mr Board Games @eizebasa.baby to leading to this being made and done! Kind of a crazy step in my life, really. Look, that's me!

I've been really dragging my feet in editing my novel. I keep getting closer to being left with all the chapters that have a character in need of wholesale rewriting and that's a pain. But I need to crack on and rip that bandage off, hair, scab, and all. #writing

I lie on my girlfriend's bed with my arms crossed on my chest like Dracula. The cold I've been housing in my body slowly takes over the remaining 20% of my brain. I am nothing more than goo.

I'm officially giving up on this collection of H P Lovecraft tales, such as The Call of Cthulhu They're just frightfully boring and not well written. Over long and laborious in every way. The Dunwich Horror and Rats in the Walls were suitably something, but Dreams in the Witch House killed me #books

Wow, what's that coming out of the fog and the mist and looking all cool in a big cloak? Why, it's my video on Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game which is a board game based on the works of Brandon Sanderson, specifically some of the good books of his! Check it out! youtu.be/SF1E7Ya_9tM

There is something hilarious about the mindset of old-skool Japanese Devs when they feel like it's a point of note to go "After 40 years, we finally developed the technology to free move the camera and have a dedicated jump button" Something only a very nostalgia-heavy culture could achieve #Zelda

Editing my book is the pits as I flip-flop hard between thinking I'm maybe okay at writing and that everything I've ever typed should be sunk to the bottom of the sea. Me included. Especially as I keep thinking of short story ideas I want to write... and then have no clue what to do with. #writing

Just finished reading The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea by Yukio Mishima - Not at all how I expected it to go. Knowing about him, you can see how this book invokes his views of a dying empire and a lost sense of noble honour within Japan. #books

Hitting that point of my life where I wonder if I should just become an otamatone guy. You know, show up to the function, get talking around the fire, and then hit them with "Anyway, here's Wonderwall" and just warble it out.

Realising I could never write a short story as concise and effective as this actual news story. Smashing through a Bronze Age burial site to appease arrested development adults obsessed with a fictional character. Like what the hell man, this article is too good. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Just finished You Weren't Meant To Be Human by Andrew Joseph White. It was odd. At times incredibly evocative, but at others it is just a bit unmoving. I'd have liked to have been stuck less in Crane's head, repeating the same self-loathing diatribes, and maybe done something at some point. #books

Could a 33 year-old do this!? Well, yes, because today is my birthday and that is very much me doing exactly that. A fun V5. Sure, I've once more busted my finger, but I'm young(?), I'm invincible(?), and I will never suffer consequences(?). Now I just need to properly finish my novel... #climbing

Just finished Jade City by Fonda Lee. I'd heard lots of praise for this and it didn't quite live up to it. An interesting world let down slightly by uninteresting characters often doing uninteresting things. This story didn't need to be 500 pages long. The second is meant to be better. #books

I've begun my big edit of my book (I gave up waiting for one friend to read it as she is now addicted to Pokemon Go), and it has been great for my confidence. I'm reading bits of prose that are really good? I wrote that? Why did one of my friends hate this? #writing

Guess who finally made a new video! That's right, me, a normal human being and not a vampire. Important details. I took a look at Vampire Crawlers, the dungeon crawling (yay), deck building (even more yay) adventure (sure!). A strange adaptation of Vampire Survivors that works! youtu.be/zCxwbWCInFg

Just finished The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin and it was ... fine. It really picks up around the middle point, but there were lots of points where I had to force myself through it, a bit like a trek across a glacier. I feel like it didn't hit me as it did others... #books

Received an email from my manager telling me that the rest of the team are working from home this whole week due to the heatwave. I have to be in every day in an un-air-conditioned office. The advice I was given was to stay hydrated.

This weekend I'm hopefully going to get the last bit of feedback from my friend on my first draft, so can then start working on a second! But, I've also come up with a load of new ideas for short stories and a novella that I really want to write and do not have the time for!! Oh no. #Writing

Crying in bed because my cat is drooling all over my hand while purring and leaning on me and it means that he's incredibly happy and content. I'll get there too, one day.

There is something very funny about how Guitaroo Man instantly shows up almost the entire State of Play line-up just from pure colour, style and quirk. The most unique thing shown and it's just a PS2 game coming to the classic catalogue.

My latest read has been Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang - A collection of short stories with a heavier focus on linguistics, maths and systems. I found 'Story of Your Life' enthralling and 'Hell Is the Absence of God' chilling. Some great reads to be found. #books

One of the wild things about owning a cat is googling something like "Is this toxic to cats?" and the answer is always "Extremely, even if they look at it, they'll explode painfully!" then I look at my cat as he repeatedly tries burying his face deep into the thing I just searched.

My newest video is finally out! It's a topic I personally really love as this one is all about climbing, specifically climbing in video games! I look at how video games try to emulate the climbing experience. It's silly, it's fun, go climbing. #Climbing #VideoGames www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSJR...

My brain is a profound annoyance to me. I have spent all week and day planning to spend Friday cracking out a bunch of editing bits on this long overdue video. Anyway, on my bus home a terrible miasma crept in through the cracks and now I feel awful and just want to perish. Pestering the cat it is.

Just finished A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett - another great fantasy murder mystery that takes you deep into the strangeness of this near-alien world he's created. Twists, turns, and downright weird things that undulate, it was a delight to read! #books

They're talking about purple prose over on the other site and every time this comes up I start sweating. I enjoy writing big images with metaphor, and it seems the thing that determines whether it's good or bad is based entirely on pre-judgement of the work. #writing

Took the day off work to film all the last bits I needed to film at my climbing wall. Rock up earlier than I usually would, turns out i brought the wrong tripod mount so i just had to do a normal climb but without any of the people I normally see... so many delays to this video, man.

It’s inaccurate to say Mario is brave and Luigi is cowardly Luigi is afraid of death, so he runs away from danger. Mario is afraid of living, so he runs towards death. Both brothers are cowards in their own way

Currently while bouldering I'm alternating weekly between the same two bits of skin/flappers ripping off my hand and then getting more blood on the walls. If I took the time for it to heal it'd probably be fine, but I've never willingly taken care of myself...

How is my dating life going, you ask? Well, I'm downloading League of Legends again after 4 years of absence... so, not very well. It's not a solution to my problems, but some days you just need to relapse and hate yourself.

Just finished Between Two Fires by @buehlmeister.bsky.social and it was such an interesting and strange book. In a good way. Stylistically changing and shifting like the very men and devils within. The last chunk of pages made me weepy eyed on the bus. It's good! #books

Was sat on the Victoria line on my way home absolutely steaming from a full day of drinking delicious Lonkero. Looking at my phone, feeling my soul escape my body, when a singular ant crawls across the screen. How curious, I thought. Ants don't normally get the tube...

Nothing like googling "How much does a human head weigh?" On my work computer while in the office as I needed to check something for my book I'm writing (also on the work computer, keep it quiet). I really hope I don't flag up as suspicious to IT as there have been some rogue searches. #writing

Last night I saw James Acaster at the Hackney Empire and he remains very much my brand of humour. Strange and whimsical at times, while also just very acute and clever. Sharpness hidden behind moments of foolery. He's very clever and very funny. I remain jealous.

Re: the idea that all authors use AI. I know I'm hardly an author, but as an aspirant writer, like... no? I once got into an argument with an ex when she told me to run a chapter through ChatGPT when I was struggling with trying to fix it. It felt like a betrayal to being alive itself...

I've been on a forced 6 week climbing break after an injury but finally returned yesterday! Turns out, I'm now super weak, my injury may not actually be 100% (oops) and I tore 2 holes in my fingers as my under used calluses peeled off and bled everywhere. Good to be back. #climbing
