Ran outdoor live sound for Brewstock music festival aaaallll day yesterday. My first festival FOH gig, sounded great and we kept everything on time somehow!? Helped that we had multiple stagehands and a dedicated monitor mix engineer. Just a bit easier than doing everything myself!

Yet another killer song by Asheville NC pop punk band Drowning Leo! As usual, the band tracked live at the studio, and then we overdubbed guitars and vocals. Sonically, it’s bouncy and upbeat. Lyrically? Well, let's just say I was adamant about joining in on the gang vocals for this one.

Dear live keyboard players, please don't turn the volume down on your keyboard if your monitors are too hot. Doing so will lead to the engineer chasing you by boosting your gain, which will in turn lead to increasingly louder monitor levels.

One of the more annoying parts of running a studio is chasing down gremlins nonstop. Is it a bad cable? Bad mic? Bad preamp? Bad snake channel? Did you route things incorrectly? Did a piece of equipment become cranky and need to be turned off and on again? And it's always the last thing you try.

Had to fire a client yesterday. Rare but it happens. On top of not knowing his songs because he used AI to write them for him, dude showed up late for a session and then gave me a hard time about charging for the time, plus he didn’t have the money.
