On this day 45 years ago (1981): the last part of the M67 opened, extending this troubled road to Denton Island. The road is notorious for being clearly unfinished at either end, with the new terminus having plenty of room for an extension to meet the Inner Ring Road that would never happen.

On this day 120 years ago (1906): the Newport Transporter Bridge opened. This unusual structure was one of the first of its kind in the UK. It was erected by Newport Corporation at a cost of £70,000.

On this day 60 years ago (1966): the Queen was in Aust to officially open the Severn Bridge. The project consisted of three structures, plus the equally impressive Almondsbury Interchange. Traffic was allowed to use it from 7am the next day, with 24,000 making the journey.

On this day 50 years ago (1976): the Staples Corner flyover opened. It was one of two structures which were originally planned for this landmark roundabout that marks what's now the start of the M1.

Warminster services was built by Granada in 1992. It was rebranded after 9 years. 25 years after that, local media (presumably using a police statement) are still trying referring to it by this name! The pinnacle of 'old habits die hard'

A section of The New Blackmore Vale Magazine, saying: The 39-year-old was also disqualified from driving for 40 months and must pay £200 compensation to his victims.

The charges came after, at shortly before 10pm on July 21, police were called to Burger King at Grenada Services, Warminster, where Korgul was intoxicated and being abusive towards staff by throwing items and spitting at them.

Officers attended and spotted Korgul driving a vehicle in the car park, with a child inside.

Korgul was clearly intoxicated and alcohol was located inside the car.

He refused a breath test and was arrested. The child was returned home.
