#Insect #FlyDay I believe this is a Cherry-Faced Meadowhawk (Sympetrum internum). These small red dragonflies are most numerous when the summer season winds down.

A dragonfly resting on the tip of a bare branch. The 4 wings droop downward slightly. The veins are clearly visible along with a slight golden colouring on the leading edge. The eyes are a dark burgundy, the fuzzy thorax a rust colour and, the abdomen a bright red.

Summer tanagers 17 cm male is vibrate red, the female is rich yellow they breed in S and SW US diet larvae, flying insects and wild fruit they migrate south to Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. They prefer open woods, especially areas with oak, pine, or cottonwood tree.
