I’m an orange amalgamation with an “M” for an eye and a stem before my head. But I am not incomprehensible. I can be recognized, no matter how bizarre. And I find that wonderful.”
Panel 3: “For even an amateurish silhouette to convey my being, I must be doing SOMETHING right. Or… maybe something wrong. After all, if everything were combinations and permutations of perfect shapes, art would stand out all the less, wouldn’t it? Or at least be less freeing. But what is freedom, really? Is it the ability to choose your own choices? In a sense, yes. But I think there’s more to it than that. If you “make your own choices”, but are bound to the structure of your self-defined framework, would that not be true freedom? Maybe nothing matters. But if nothing matters, we can choose to do what makes us happy. Engage with those who make us happy. Friends, and family, and loved ones… and everyone else we love and care about. Appreciating those around you, and yourself, is freedom in my eyes. Saccharine? Perhaps. But if to love is to be trapped, then I don’t want to be free.”

Golly golly GODSH!! What can I even say? It’s Undertale! Do I even NEED to say more?
Okay, well, I’ll do it anyway. Undertale really made me value choices in games. Non-linear gameplay and endings, the ability to just… make a choice, and have that substantially affect the rest of the game? I love it. It’s the main reason I want to make a game (or two… or ten) someday! While of course, aiming for such dynamic non-linearity on my first go-around may be a bit unrealistic… I like working towards it! Just doing what I find fun! And funny! With meta-humor! (Like the Emmy the Robot VN I’m making!!) Which, Undertale sort of ingrained in me also!
The meta aspect is something that I adore also. Having not only meta-humor, but the meta aspects as a NARRATIVE choice? Also influenced me greatly. There’s a reason my main OC universe (The Volucrine Screen; the one with Maximus. You know, Maximus? Come on… please don’t tell me I haven’t posted about him for THAT long……) has residents who know they’re all in a TV show, to the point where a character NOT knowing is unusual (up to a certain age, since I would imagine the parents explain this to their children in the form of a sort of coming-of-age “talk”).
It ALSO! Got me on the pipeline towards making alternate universes of things… or… AUs. (I shudder, as flashes of names like “Underswap”, “Underfell”, “Storyshift”, “Underfresh”, “Horrortale”, “Dusttale”, “Taletwist”, “Littletale”, “Swapswap”, “Swapfell”, “Fellswap” [THEY’RE DIFFERENT THINGS…!!!], and more run through my head.
