Astella
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ll have seen his pretty head pop up from time to time in various games. His origin however, is Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen. So here is how he was made and some “lore” I have created for him.
## How he was made
Anyone who has played the original Dragons Dogma knows how robust the character creator is. Especially for an RPG originally on the Playstation 3! And not only were there many options, there were many sliders to alter those many options. And many of your choices had direct gameplay implications!
So one evening I asked myself: Is this character creator so good that I can make a male pawn look like a girl?
The answer?
That’s my boy!
## The story so far
Astellas story starts off at a Riftstone in The Encampment near Cassardis. His Arisen? A red-headed orphan with an easy laugh, who hadn’t really known what to summon. A little brother? A little sister? An elf? Someone with an adventurous spirit like herself?
Astella was the result, though at first she called him Aster and there was not a hint of makeup to be seen.
The new name came from an evening spent at the inn in Gran Soren. A quiet evening after a long hard battle. She tied his hair into his now signature pigtails and applied makeup.
> “You could almost be my little sister, Aster” she giggled, earning a little giggle from her pawn in turn. “Perhaps in fact, I should call you…Astella! A pretty name for a pretty pawn!”
It has stuck ever since.
Such joyous times were not to last.
Before they could face the dragon, they were both ensnared and trapped on Bitterblack Island where they would both lose their lives.
## Dragons Dogma 2
The current Arisen of the current era is a half-elf, born from merchants…who were promptly slain by beasts near the town of Melve. He took up sword and shield to protect his new home, not knowing what fate had in store for him.
When it came time to summon his main pawn, he had no idea what to do. Only that he wished for an experienced hand to aide him.
That wish alone would prove enough to summon Astella. By now, he has adopted his former masters easy smile and even her voice. But otherwise, he remembers her not.
Ahoy Arisen!
And so his adventure continues.
What does life have in store for him now, friends?
