Professor Bender was my favorite teacher of my entire educational life. He helped make me the lawyer I am today. I am grateful that he left the ivied halls of UPenn to take a chance on an upstart state law school out west.

Authoritarian overreaches blocked: ❌ EOs attempting to commandeer election infrastructure & mail-in voting ❌ SAVE Act failing to pass Congress ❌ 0-23 record of courts turning back demands for state voter data ❌ SCOTUS declining to permit Missouri’s mid-decade congressional gerrymandering

We all owe a massive debt to lawyers from the CA, MA, NV, and WA AG’s offices who’ve worked their tails off to preserve voting by mail in November. And a nod to the amazing Tammy Patrick whose expert declaration really drove home what complete madness it would be to try to implement the rule now.

Here’s the fundamental problem: 1. The rules of professional conduct (legal ethics rules) require an attorney to check and verify all legal research results output from AI 2. It takes longer to verify AI research than human research 3. Like, a LOT longer 4. And it’s getting worse not better

For the record, while there are indeed vulnerabilities in some US election systems, susceptibility to “lasers from space” is not one of them. Musk’s alleged claims here would not constitute evidence of election fraud, but rather evidence of a serious detachment from reality on his part.

The best thing about amicus briefs is when they get to do things like this. (From Rick Hasen, Pam Karlan, et al.’s just-filed brief in USPS v. CA)
Amici are hard-pressed to think of another case in their decades of studying
Remedies and Election Law in which the balance of the equities and the public
interest point so strongly against this Court granting emergency relief. Applicant's repeated assertion that that the new USPS election rule is "modest" (Appl. 2, 7, 13, 17, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27) does not make it so. Cf. Jonathan Swift, A Modest Proposal

This is so disingenuous from the Republic. The socialist elected (actually, just nominated right now) is seeking a seat in the AZ Leg. Yet they use a picture of Gov. Hobbs and her running mate (who very recently left the Republican Party). I’d say the paper can do better, but I’m not sure it can.
