During Pinochet’s coup and subsequent dictatorship, they only needed to arrest a few thousand people and secure a few strategic towns. Most of the country really didn’t get involved and most people weren’t really directly affected- except by the theft of public resources and loss of civil liberty.

But “steals” is too active a verb. Based on coded instructions, it absorbs and rewords and spits stuff back out. Sometimes its rewording captures our carefully-worded meanings. Sometimes the rewordings fundamentally distort. But regardless its coders pretend these ideas belong to it. Nope.

I always thought under-slung BART wouldn’t fit through the Golden Gate Bridge towers, but it turns out BART is small and the bridge is huge. Here is a mockup in 1/100 scale, BART fits easily.

The NY Times has repeatedly used the phrase “to heel” in reference to Trump’s crackdown on universities, implicitly clarifying that Trump goal is to establish dominance. And what exactly constitutes this “woke” ideology in higher education?
During the meeting, Mr. Trump repeatedly complained about his administration’s failure to bring Harvard University in particular to heel. The administration has been unable to hammer out a deal with the nation’s oldest and wealthiest university, a central plank of his broader push against “woke” ideology in higher education.
