After years of championing "free speech," Texas lawmakers have enabled a dramatic rise of censorship in Texas universities, banning concepts, canceling courses and closing departments seen as "woke," and even using AI bots as censors. All in the name of freedom. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
In other professors’ syllabi, the bot flagged the Pulitzer Prize–winning play Angels in America by Tony Kushner, essays by the Mexican American MacArthur genius grant recipient Sandra Cisneros, and materials related to a class about the Holocaust (that professor was told to drop material regarding Nazi persecution of LGBTQ people).

Putting aside the ideological slant of the new rules, the bot, like many large language models, seems to “hallucinate,” or make mistakes. The AAUP lawsuit lists texts banned for their “sex-based ecofeminist framework” and “gendered ecofeminist frameworks.” These phrases might sound persuasively like academese, but the academics behind the lawsuit had never heard of them; these concepts “do not exist,” the complaint says. Matthew Pehl, a history professor at Tech, told me that he knew several people who’d received reports from the system that were “plainly written by an AI that had hallucinated content or confused content from one class to another.”

Trump's suit appears to be part of Jos. A. Bank's Traveler line. The suit is listed as having been made abroad using a wool-polyester-spandex blend. The company describes it as having the "ultimate stretch" and was designed to minimize body odor.
Trump wearing a blue suit on stage. He is flashing his jacket open, such that you can see the interior labels. One label says Jos. A. Bank. A product shot from Jos. A. Bank's website. Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

Trump is planning to host a third gala for the top investors of his $TRUMP crypto coin. He and his family have raked in $2.2 billion from their crypto ventures, while their investors have lost almost the same amount. They’ll fleece anyone they can — even their own supporters.

But for real, is there a reason so many of the MAGA people wear jackets that don't fit? I had to buy a new blazer because I've apparently gained weight since 1998 and I realized I looked Republican now that my jacket was too small.

We cannot build a safer future by further building a surveillance state. Flock cameras & now ALPRs are expanding the ability to track people’s movements, often without their consent. Public safety matters, but so do our constitutional rights, privacy, & freedom to live without constant monitoring.
thehill.com
It’s not just Flock. These cameras, ALPRs may also be in your community
Backlash to Flock cameras has been growing in recent months, but the surveillance equipment company isn’t the only one that may be operating in your neighborhood.

This idea applies to other things. If you wear a big sun hat, a polo shirt, and a pair of baggy cargo shorts to the zoo, you can tell people wholly fabricated, rather incorrect information about the animals and they will believe you.

I am in fact extremely angry about Bush v. Gore and have written about it often. But that's the side Ralph Nader was on. Bush winning wasn't an incidental byproduct of Nader's campaign -- it was the outcome he sought to achieve and did (by, for example, refusing to stop running in swing states)
