Reporters writing stuff like this should be in prison. "acting on their own", no, it's software, it was programmed in such a way that this happened, Anthropic is criminally liable for its software. And by claiming they "acted on their own" you make yourselves accomplices to Anthropic's crime

Also, the slop engines they call "ai" are regurgitation software, it just slaps together pieces of what was stolen for their training data. Slopists are deluding themselves, it inherently can't make something new and perfectly personalized for the prompter, because of the above.

"three major publications" ... once again I'm convinced, this isn't because this slop is useful in any way The publications, like 'the Guardian" got into a 'strategic partnership' with some slop seller, or their CEO got paid off with some of the 500 million OpenAI or Anthropic spend on "marketing"

This is what I'm talking about when I bring up that genAI bots are making it impossible for an open web to actually exist. It becomes expensive, a pain, and domain providers like cloudflare are profiting off both the people making bots and the people who don't have the tech skills to fight them off

a knight with 6 fingers on one hand from the trailera knight in mid air from the trailer with two right hands and wearing what looks like modern day nike shoes or similara man and woman running toward the camera, the mans right hand is a blob with extra long fingers and his left barely existsbuildings from the trailer where the windows are supposed to have a cross pattern over the glass but the pattern just melts into nonsense

I'm not really saying much about this case. but in Kadrey, it wasn't clear cut. I do realize people run away with the first title they read, Meta did win that trial, but it was due to lack of evidence. bsky.app/profile/chup... the judge explained it further. As for Bartz, yeah, that one's fucked.

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”
