I am not being hyperbolic. Our insistence on segregating our histories, in encapsulating the struggle for voting/civil rights as a Black struggle and not an American one, has helped bring us to this moment. We did not have representative democracy until 1965. W/o the VRA, it is unlikely to survive.

We must understand that the Voting Rights Act was not merely about ensuring Black Americans rights, it was about democratizing America. This ruling is not just a decimation of Black rights and Black Americans’ ability to have representation, it is a fatal blow to multiracial democracy.

the arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.

Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read. Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work. He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

I just can’t find the humor in the false fear generated by Republicans in DC because it’s not sincere and it’s not really funny, it’s their way of saying that Black people don’t belong in society, that Black people are inherently unsafe, and that it’s worth using violence to segregate us.

Buried in the regime's political takeover letter of the Smithsonian is the worst bit. Unlike exhibits, which are non-destructive towards primary materials, temporary in nature, and reversible, the foundational collections are irreplacable. They want to be able to throw stuff out.

The takeover of DC is rooted in racism. It is expressed through fascism. These things matter because it’s not a “distraction” or about “false” ideas around crime. It’s just racism, pure & simple. Media, politicians, social media users, influencers, everyone need to frame it this way. Consistently.
