I've written a little about genealogy. Fascism's penchant for dynasties amplifies a broader conflation of property (legal possession of a thing) and properties ("natural qualities"). One inherits these spurious qualities and qualifications — like race, IQ, the throne — much like private property.

There is also a marked increase in dense, AI-written papers. AI tools are making it easy for authors to flood arXiv [and others with] low-value papers.
A histogram showing the incredible increase in submissions.

> In September of 2016, arXiv received 9,869 submissions. In September of 2024, arXiv received 20,569 submissions. This September, arXiv received 40,363 submissions, which in turn generated almost 9,000 support tickets for arXiv staff and moderators. In only the past two years, submissions have doubled.

"the phrase 'this matters' .. appears .. 116 times more often in AI-generated content than in the human-produced samples used for comparison." gizmodo.com/this-matters...
“This matters” is the giveaway that plagues Claude Opus 5.5, Anthropic’s flagship model, the most at the moment. It is also more likely to use the phrases “looking ahead the,” which appears in Claude outputs 40 times more frequently than it does in human material; “why [blank] matters,” which crops up 92 times more often; and the word “dependable,” which is used by Claude 26 times as much as human counterparts.

I just read a study of AI that showed "it matters" is a key commonplace, not em dashes. It's "tell" that distinguishes AI syntax from that of writing. And, all these phrases are assertions of absolute confidence in whatever claim is attached. A reminder that "con" is short for "confidence trick."

Does Chris Rufo support Vance's campaign for the presidency? Thought he did but I've not followed enough to know. It's a minor question within Rufo's current provocation, the "Indian Question." A new term around which to push further Right. And mostly, I think, addressed to the broader Right.

Displacement and devaluation of labour is accelerated by AI-gen tech. Yet technologies aren't determinative or inevitable. A dynamic as old as capitalism. The dream of a world without (non-compliant) workers, and much lamenting re: the "breakdown" of "the natural hierarchy" of the economy (oikos).
