Who here knows Duralex, the safe glass company? Here's a photo from their advertising. I love them, they are relatively inexpensive, but well made and last decades - they are tempered glass which makes them hard to break - which means, when you get them […] [Original post on mastodon.online]
A sunny photo of 2 glasses on a white table, one a fruity red smoothy, with a metal straw and some berries visible, the other I'm calling ice tea, a slice of lemon floating among the glass, colorful pillows sitting on a bank of yellow striped cushions, the pillows are turquoise with white flowers, and 2 white pillows, one with navy blue leaves and the other with dark green leaves printed on them. There are leafy green bushes behind the seats.

Met Gala VIP toilet, installed outside the Met Museum in New York. A $100,000 ticket gets you fashion, glamour, and apparently the full Amazon worker experience. 💋
Satirical protest installation outside the Met Museum in New York for the 2026 Met Gala. A fake red-and-white “Met Gala VIP toilet” sign, styled like official museum signage, says it was installed in honor of Met Gala chair Jeff Bezos and tells attendees it is “good enough for his staff.” Below the sign, a white basket is filled with empty plastic water bottles, referencing reports and lawsuits about Amazon workers and delivery drivers urinating in bottles because of workplace pressure and lack of bathroom access. The piece targets Bezos’s role as Met Gala sponsor and honorary co-chair, turning the $100,000-a-ticket event into a sharp joke about wealth, celebrity, labor conditions, and who gets treated as disposable.

alright here we go codeberg.org/keepasschi (linked post)
KeePassXC asks us to be skeptical of them if we are skeptical of LLMs. This is a convincing argument. A password manager doesn't need 300 regular contributors armed with 14 LLMs; it just needs to do its job, be stable, and be ported to Qt 6 already.

We are a small group of engineers with extensive open source maintenance and information security experience, and we forked KeePassχ from KeePassXC 2.7.10, the last release before the advent of the LLM policy linked above. We like using a robust, secure, and trustworthy password manager, so that's what we'll focus on. Anything on top of that is a bonus.

Why do some viruses stay in our body for life?

➡️ A massive 900,000-person study maps the human “DNA virome” and shows:
👉 Viral persistence is common—not rare.

➡️ Key finding:

Your genes play a major role in how much virus stays in your body.

👉 Immune response variability determines viral control vs persistence.

➡️ Not all viruses behave the same:

• Some peak in childhood
• Some increase with age (e.g., EBV)
• Others decline over time

👉 Each virus has its own “lifetime trajectory. 1/
