The portable induction burners that cost like $100 kinda suck, tbh. If I based my opinion of induction on them, I'd run screaming. Portable induction burners similar in quality to the ones in an induction range are ~$500/unit, the $1500 range w/4+ burners and an oven is a bargain in comparison.

MAID has in effect worked as a "pressure release valve" on an underfunded, overburdened disability support system; whether that was the intention or not, that is how it operates, and that is how it is experienced by way too many disabled people.

Yeah, so Pap smears can be replaced entirely by hrHPV testing (testing for high-risk variants of HPV) using a vaginal swab (doesn't even have to be of the cervix) that can be done without a speculum and even done by the patient themself.

FYI, if you're used to having a pelvic exam at your yearly women's health visit, that's not actually necessary. Routine pelvic exams are done for reasons ranging from unfounded beliefs by providers about the utility of them to the view that women find them reassuring.

Did you know that disabled people and allies pulled off the longest occupation of a federal building in US history? Today is the anniversary of the start of the 504 sit-in, a historic protest that helped win disability protections!
Blue textured background. There’s a black and white photo of disabled protesters (some in wheelchairs) entering the HEW building. Text reads: 504 Sit-in. Let’s look back at disability history! Today is the anniversary of the start of the 504 sit-in. On April 5th, 1977, disabled activists led sit-ins at Housing, Education, and Welfare (HEW) buildings across the country. They were calling for the government to implement Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Blue textured background. Section 504 was the first federal civil rights law that was passed to protect people with disabilities. It said that programs that receive federal funding cannot discriminate against disabled people. For years after the Rehabilitation Act was passed, the government delayed enacting section 504.Blue textured background. In the bottom right corner, there’s a black and white photo of Brad Lomax, a Black man in a wheelchair talking into a microphone. Text reads: Brad Lomax was a Black wheelchair user with multiple sclerosis who was involved in disability rights movement activism and racial justice activism. He was a member of the Black Panther Party, a group who worked in the 1960s-1980s to promote Black Power and liberation. As a disabled, Black activist, he was able to build connections between the Black Panthers and disability rights organizing.Blue textured background. Text reads: Most of the sit-ins didn’t last much longer than a day, but in San Francisco, protesters occupied the HEW building for 26 days. The San Francisco 504 sit-in was successful because they had community support and cross-movement solidarity. Organizations like the Black Panthers helped support the disabled protesters, providing food and supplies to ensure their safety and success.
The 504 sit-ins successfully won the implementation of Section 504. This is still the longest occupation of a federal building ever.

Children TODAY have grown up with a more sophisticated understanding of gender than this damaged loser can piece together, specifically BECAUSE of the societal changes he's hand-wringing about! If you really ain't a girl and are just effeminate, you can just...be that! It's allowed!

This is, in sum, not only wrongheaded, but historically illiterate. As late as 2012, people refused to distinguish between effeminate boys and gender dysphoria. This is a literal dissertation from that time arguing that liking the spice girls counted:
For developmental reasons, there are limitations on children’s ability to think abstractly
about gender and to evaluate the meaning of their gender dysphoria. It is not uncommon that
when asked to list reasons for wanting to be of the opposite sex, young children with GID will
provide concrete advantages. As an example, one 8-year old boy with GID asserted that it would
be better to be a girl because they have better bands, such as the Spice Girls (Zucker & Bradley,
2004). The extent to which a child engages in sex-typed behaviors typical of the opposite sex and
their rejection of activities and clothing typical of their own sex can be construed as surface
indicators of gender dysphoria. Some children may experience discomfort with their sexual
anatomy, which serves as another indicator of their felt gender dysphoria.

Action needed: Please email your city council and ask them to ask the police department to make sure your city's Flock cameras network to disable the "nationwide" search setting. Mountain View discovered federal agencies searched theirs in 2024! www.mountainview.gov/Home/Compone...
City statement on Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader System
Post Date:01/30/2026 8:44 p.m.
Mountain View, Calif. — The Mountain View Police Department recently became aware of a brief period in 2024 during which federal agencies accessed data from the first camera in operation in Mountain View’s Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) system. MVPD discovered the data access through a department-initiated audit. At the same time the audit was underway, there was news coverage of Flock Safety data from California law enforcement agencies being shared outside California, and a public records request from the Mountain View Voice was submitted.

During the prior federal administration, from August to November 2024, several federal law enforcement agencies accessed Mountain View’s Flock Safety ALPR system for one camera via a “nationwide” search setting that was turned on by Flock Safety. This setting was enabled without MVPD’s permission or knowledge. The federal agencies that accessed the one camera’s data include Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives offices in Kentucky and Nashville, TN; Langley Air Force Base in Virginia; the U.S. GSA Office of Inspector General; Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada; and an Ohio Air Force Base. Flock Safety did not retain records for that time period, which means the vendor cannot determine whether searches of Mountain View’s data resulted in license plate information being shared.

Through the audit, MVPD also discovered that a “statewide” search function was not operating within the system controls we established. This function allowed Flock Safety to enable access to California law enforcement agencies that had not been approved by MVPD for 29 of the City’s 30 ALPR cameras. Once the MVPD identified this issue, the setting was immediately disabled on Monday, January 5. The City’s first ALPR camera went live on Aug. 14, 2024, and the final camera was installed earlier this month.

This is a …
