We cut this tree down last year and yet it continues to grow tiny trees out of its roots. Life finds a way I guess. 😂

This is one of the reasons I keep working on my Hierarchy/Conformity/Punishment model. I don’t have any idea how to deal with this situation when it arises, but I can try to give people a way to see the patterns and unlearn them before it hits a crisis point.

Unfortunately, media has taken the upper bound of one model estimate (among many) and run with it to say Lake Sturgeon *could* live for over 400 years. This isn’t necessarily what the science says, and methods used are somewhat tenuous. Several other fish aging experts agree it’s an overestimate.
